CHRISTMAS arrived early at Toa Payoh on Monday evening in the form of seven brightly decorated floats and a huge party.
Charity Christmas: Floats making their way into HSR's new premises in Toa Payoh
HSR property group sent invitations to some 30,000 residents living in the area to join the company in an evening of food, fun-filled activities and Christmas carolling with proceeds from the evening's charity Christmas fun fair going to the President's Challenge.
The group had just an hour earlier held the official opening of its new premises at Lorong 6, Toa Payoh.
Patrick Liew, chief executive of HSR, told BT the company decided to move to the former school building as it had run out of space and needed to provide for the next three to five years of growth. The lease is for an initial two years with options for three extensions over the next nine years.
About $5.5 million was spent on refurbishments to make room for the 8,500 property agents. The 88,000 square feet of interior space also allows HSR to become a 'one-stop' centre for property-related services like construction, interior design, furnishing and valuations.
In addition, there is also a gymnasium, karaoke lounge, cafeteria and even a child-care centre.
Mr Liew said his aim was to make HSR agents 'the happiest people on Planet Earth'.
He added that he has seen two-and-a-half property cycles in the past 16 years he has been in the property business and found that the group grows the fastest during downturns. His advice to would-be home buyers is to focus on good buys at good prices and not try to time the market as sometimes the 'ideal' property you want may not be on the market.
