How Will The PAP Respond?

The point being PAP does bluntly and blatantly.

You're looking for skeletons where none exist. While I'm not claiming that Singapore is corruption free, corruption is so low as to not be an issue in the day to day lives of Singaporeans. I ran a business in Singapore for more than 8 years and not once did I have to bribe anyone in order to get things going. The branch I tried to set up in KL was a different story altogether. It couldn't get off the ground until installed a bumi partner. Guess what... he wanted money... .lots of it. So did the registrar.... and the landlord..the list was endless. I gave up after 2 years.

Take a look at http://www.transparency.org. Singapore is always at the top and is the highest ranking Asian country by far. It ranks above Switzerland too.

Is it perfect? Of course it isn't but the PAP is certainly doing a very good job. I take great pride in telling my friends in OZ and NZ how well run and corruption free Singapore is. They're full of admiration for the country too. They wish their government was more like the PAP.

Yes, she was a Chinese Language Newspaper editor who was talking to her son on her mobile that rainy day, beat a red traffic light and rammed into a motorbike, killing the pillion rider. Her lawyer told her that she would be jailed, there was no escape. She was devastated but and sought help from her connections. What a relief to her that her connections managed to get her a one-day sentence which means she didnt have to go to jail...what a miscarriage of justice. That was blatant corruption

The point being it ain't so easy to get away as she had done here in Sinkie by merely pulling some strings....Assume had this been in say Indonesia.First all the kiths and kins will rise to protest publicly.Than the press will follow suit splashing the news across the nation.Than the NGO will put their feet, offering legal and other help. And if the court hands a ridiculous sentence as this, than the court becomes answerable to the public wrath....and it goes on until justice is done.

I knew of cases where the Indonesian minister slapped another parent in a school during a basketball tournament .....and another where the minister's son pulled a gun and shot a poor waiter in a disco just because he announced loudly that the minister's son girlfriend's credit card was rejected. Both had to go through the due legal process and were sentenced. The ministers in question had to resign. But knowing Indonesia,I bet the jail terms could very well be compromised or someone could have served the sentence instead.

But despite being a corrupted country where corruption is a way of life.....the public must still be appeased.Whereas PAP care two hoots for public anger.Because PAP had corrupted our free press,an independent judiciary and every other executive power.Which actually are the other pillars of democracy.

Good point. But I see the tide changing. The pap knows that political life cant be the same for them from now on. Singaporeans must not condone what the pap is doing just because other countries are no better.

Singaporeans must hold the political leaders to task for the lenient sentencing of that Chinese newspaper editor, Commission SCDF's corruption if he is found guilty. The due process of the law must be followed. And Minister, Home Affairs cant just be allowed scotfree. After all SCDF is under his purview

Singaporeans should give the PAP their full support because 99% of other countries are a lot worse.

If there are any PAP members or supporters reading this forum, I would like to take the time to point out that the anti PAP view here is held by a very small minority of mentally challenged citizens who congregate here simply because I allow them to have their say. They are in no way representative of the majority view.

I would also like to point out that I know many intelligent and hardworking Australians and New Zealanders who support the way the PAP runs the country and I can assure you that they would love to move to Singapore to work and bring up their families in a safe and secure environment that Singapore provides. If you want names and references, I would be only too happy to provide them. All those I recommend would be a credit to the country. PM or email me.

If Singaporeans dont keep the pap on a leash, soon SG will be like Indonesia, China or India

You're just being ridiculous. Such wild statements do you no good whatsoever.

As long as they are not Singaporeans and dont stay in SG, take what they say with a huge dose of salt.

Listen to Singaporeans who have to endure the pap 24hrs a day.

You are detached from SG and have lost touch with the latest happenings in SG. It may please you to know that the pap is actually afraid of Singaporeans now and has tried to listen to the people and act wisely.

Ministers are reacting to people's feedbacks. Ministers are taking public transport. Ministers are scolding their civil servants. That's good news for Singaporeans. I think less people want to be pap politician

Not wild statements. Statements from the bottom of my heart

You shouldn't allow your heart to rule when it comes to something as important as electing a government. You need to deal with facts and the figures.

I mentioned the example of "infant mortality rate" yesterday. For any would be parent, this figure is far more important than a couple of clowns who have been caught for alleged corruption. Singapore is one of the safest countries in the world to have a baby in. These are the sorts of bread and butter issues that matter more than anything else.

True...I not only use my head..I have a heart too...so I use my heart and head

Both need to work together. Some risks taken need the heart to overrule the head because it is not worth taking the investment risk for some possible gains. If like dat, no research and
Microsoft will be born. Also, which head you use for guys, hehehe. Small or big one? We are seeing two civil servants using wrong head and put in wrong hole at the wrong place and wrong time.
