It offers a marketing perspective on tapping social media's power.
Watch the video - The Facebook Era : Clara Shih
A presentation conducted for the Association of Computing Machinery

Currently, the IB has this forum in a sleeperhold - ie chokes out the readership with tricks like intermittent setting of the Delphi login page to an endless loop. This acts as a natural barrier to entry to dissuade new readers from joining. Learning to use a a proxy to access a forum may prove too troublesome for new users to bother.
By not doing anything to counter this strategy, we're already lost the battle. The IB have us cornered and segregated from the mainstream.
All the KPKB by the regulars here isnt going to do much since we're already preaching to the converted, if no new people join in.
Eventually, without new blood into this forum, postings and ideas will dwindle and once it falls below the critical threshold level, this forum may risk losing the audience to other more busy forums which are pappy controlled.
So it is critical that readership and posting quality grows. There is a Chinese saying: ²»½ø¶øÍË.
This forum has a natural advantage; It is non-pappy controlled and Kojakbt22 and Ficklebug has been doing a great job at keeping it so. However, ideas discussed in this forum needs to get disseminated "out there" to reach the man-in-the-street. After all, there's less than 2 years to the next election.
Social media is a great channel for this forum to to reaching out to a new audience. In this presentation, the speaker refers to this market as "a latent demand". And I suspect that the latent demand for a forum like 3in1kopitiam is a strong untapped one.
As you watch this video, perhaps it'll help if you keep this in mind:
Product : 3in1kopitiam
Market : regular Singaporeans.
Obstacles : identity, etc
Opportunities : wide reach, targetted ads, etc,
The pappies naturally favor Facebook as a platform since identity is revealed there. But a knife cuts both ways; FB has it's loopholes that can be exploited to our advantage. If we dont exploit that to our advantage,we are fighting with one hand tied behind our back.
I hope after watching this video, forummers can brainstorm some ideas and strategies to help expand 3in1kopitiams reach.
