How many x% would be the deciding factor for you to switch to your next job in this current Singapore economy? 5%, 10%, 20% ..... x%?

Also, how would you negiotiate to get the $$$ (more than your current salary) amount you want during your interview?

Pei seh so many questions early in the morning. :o

Alot depends on the industry and job nature..but normally, 20% increment is the max you should ask for. I don't think the HR guidelines of companies will allow more than that, unless they have no internal integrity for their current staff, or they are super desperate, or you are underpaid in your current job.

To switch job in the same industry/job nature, definitely it has to be more than what you are taking now. Let the new employer knows that there has to be a pull factor for you to switch. Also discuss with them the complexity of your new job, and the benefits that you can bring to the new company.

Hope this helps.

6 months ago ..mi did a career switch with a 10% increment only. Intially I enter the company with heavy workload & with snobbish colleagues, feeling damn suay :( & short-changed to find that one new colleague had a 40% pay jump.

But I am very committed in meeting the KPI & my supervisor recognised my commitment & given a basic salary adjustment plus sending mi for upgrading courses paid my company.

While my new colleague failed to meet the KPI & left after 3 months

between 10% - 25% depending on your skill.
if yours is a very specialist and limit supply here, then 25% or more is alright.
normally 10-20%,that what people will ask for.

Heart Break Kid,you have a fair and good supervisor, who recognise your hard work and performance.

I will take 100 percent pay cut to leave NS slavery. It it not the salary but the job and its future prospect.

$$$, i think is a secondary thing in career.

Between a 20% increment and a 5% increment, I think most would choose the former. And also with a better titleship, how many would refuse?

But I think these are very superficial. IMHO, unless one is thinking of it as a career and not a job, then career advancement prospects are the ones that will weigh heavily in the picture.

Actually, theres not much "career prospect" in any job anymore..any industry can fall anytime. Also, any job can produce its own scholars.

Any increase plus stability for at least a year is good enough to leave. There is no such thing as long term prospect and loyalty when it comes to jobs in peesailand. If you are loyal and passionate about your job in sinkeeland, you are in deep shit. Always go for the money and watch your own ass at sinkeeland work place.

Cheap labour and young china/pinoy pussies have already made sinkees obsolete.

Cash will still the 1st consideration but if you are satisfied all what your current basic salary is. Then it is all about staying on the job for say at least 5~10years ..career is a long term jobs.

Anyway we can't be every year changing jobs for an additional of 10%~20% pay jump :p
