How many men does it take to rescue a woman?

Look at this pretentious chink. Deputy Public Prosecutor Timotheus Koh sought 15 to 20 years’ jail and 18 strokes of the cane.

People even remember this case? Giving foreigner a gun is of course a good idea. A 20-year-old Certis Cisco auxilliary police officer shot herself to death at the Supreme Court on Tuesday afternoon at about 1.20pm.

The police said the woman, a Malaysian, was found with a gunshot wound to her head in the toilet. Her service revolver was found beside her.

According to a joint media statement by the two organisations, she joined Certis Cisco in June last year, and was deployed to the Supreme Court in late October.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

The statement also said that her family will be assisted in any way they may require.

"Deputy Assistant Commissioner Chua Chuan Seng, Commander of Certis Cisco Auxiliary Police Force and senior officers from Certis Cisco, together with the security team from the Supreme Court, have been rendering assistance to the police," it added.

In 2011, a male Certis Cisco auxiliary police officer died from a gunshot wound to the head after shooting himself in a VivoCity toilet cubicle.

Vivocity suicide.

Deryl Ang, commander of auxiliary police force Certis Cisco, told Yahoo! Singapore that the deceased was a Malaysian national who had been employed with the company for the last three years.

SINGAPORE - The police have arrested a woman who wielded a knife outside a secondary school in Tampines on Monday evening. The 53-year-old woman had stabbed herself in the abdomen and was tasered before her arrest.
Police were alerted at about 6.30pm about the woman, who was near Block 840 Tampines Street 82.
In videos posted online, the woman - who was wearing a green top, black pants and with a red bag looped around her waist - was seen surrounded by at least 10 police officers outside St Hilda's Secondary School.
At least three of the officers were decked in tactical gear and held what looked like sub-machine guns. At least one officer was holding a transparent police shield.
The woman was seen alternating between shouting and speaking to the officers in a mix of English and Malay. At one point during the stand-off, she looked to be making a phone call with her left hand and dropped something from her right hand. One of the police officers then kicked her while several other officers moved in to arrest her. At least five officers were observed pinning her on the ground.

Passers-by were seen looking at the commotion across the two-lane road, while a police officer was observed directing traffic along the road.
"When police officers arrived, the woman was uncooperative and refused to comply with police's instructions," said the police.

"The woman then stabbed herself in the abdomen and threatened to further harm herself."
A police officer discharged a taser to prevent the woman from injuring herself.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted at about 6.50pm and sent her to Changi General Hospital. She was conscious and in stable condition.
The woman was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, suspected drug-related offences and was also apprehended under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act.
Investigations are ongoing.

Forum: Deploying 17 ambulances for food poisoning incident stretches emergency services thin

Aug 01, 2024

In a recent incident involving food poisoning, 17 ambulances were deployed to transport affected individuals to hospitals (At least 60 people ill after mass food poisoning case at Singapore ByteDance office, July 30).
While ensuring the health and safety of citizens is paramount, the allocation of such a significant number of emergency vehicles raises questions about the efficient use of resources. Fire engines and a mass decontamination vehicle were also deployed.
Food poisoning, while potentially serious, often does not require immediate hospital intervention for every affected individual. Deploying 17 ambulances not only stretches emergency services thin but also limits their availability for other urgent medical emergencies, such as heart attacks, accidents, or strokes, where every second counts.
Public health education on recognising the symptoms of food poisoning and understanding when it is necessary to seek emergency care could also reduce unnecessary calls for ambulances.
While the response to potential public health threats should never be underestimated, it is crucial to manage resources effectively. We should aim to ensure that emergency services are readily available for all citizens when they are most needed.
