How Is Andy Lau Connected To HK Socialite Abby Choi's Gruesome Murder?
hype.my
Hong Kong star Andy Lau (刘德华) is a much beloved figure in the entertainment circle. But, there’s no denying that, he’s had his fair share of oddities in life. Just look at why he’s never collaborated with Stephen Chow (Xing Chi, 周星馳) since! Unfortunately, the actor might have accidently gotten dragged into something else again.
The world is currently abuzz with the murder case of Hong Kong socialite, Abby Choi (蔡天凤). It’s certainly a horrific one as Abby was brutally murdered by her former husband and in-laws. Shockingly, Abby was killed over some property, which coincidently turned out to be in the same area as Andy Lau’s!

Abby had married her ex-husband Alex Kwong (前夫) at the age of 18. They later had two children, but unfortunately, the marriage didn’t last. Abby reportedly ended up divorcing Alex. Despite their separation, Abby continued to support her ex-husband and her former in-laws. In fact, she even bought them a house in Kowloon, a housing area which is popular with many celebrities, like Andy Lau.
Regretfully, the luxurious house soon became a point of contention between them. Abby reportedly had plans to sell the house for investment reasons. A friend also claimed Abby had found another place for her ex-husband’s family to stay. However, her plans had made Abby’s ex-father-in-law furious. “I will kill you if you sell the house!” he allegedly threatened.
Abby was later reported missing on Tuesday (21st February). Three days later (24th February), Abby’s headless body was discovered in a house in Tai Po. Police investigation also turned up her other body parts and her possessions. Most horrifically, her head was found in a pot of soup.

Police soon identified four major suspects in her murder case: Abby’s former husband and in-laws.
Surprisingly enough, all of them had a dark history. Abby’s ex-husband, Alex had supposedly once been involved in fraud. Her father-in-law, 前家翁, was a former policeman who was suspected of sexual assault. Alex’s brother, also hired as Abby’s private chauffeur, was once in debt while their mother filed for bankruptcy in 2016.
The family also reportedly had motives for the murder. Local news reports claimed Abby’s ex-husband and in-laws weren’t happy with how she had been managing her valuable properties. Some also claim they were eyeing Abby’s family fortune valued over HK$100 million (~RM56 million).

The murder case has left many horrified, with several likening it to the 2019 Oscar-winning film “Parasite”. However, others have shared their condolences towards Abby’s family and her kids. The news was likely not easy for them. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who knew Abby. We hope she finds peace in the afterlife.
