In our home we do not use any utensiles made in China.

We bought the whole set (including forks and spoons) make in Germany and is made with tatinium.

Most or our food are produce of Canada or USA.

Of course we cannot totally elimate made-in-China products but my wife and even my 14 year old son and I try to minimize made-in China products and foodstuff.

Now we have one more to stay away from....chopsticks.

You think things made by dumb Ang Mohs are good? I don't think so. Check carefully you had been deceived.

Thats gross. Somebody translate the chemicals into english please.

1:16 - Smoke with Sulphur for 2 days, to prevent insects/worm growth, to whiten the chopsticks also.

2:05 - Industrial wax, to smoothen the chopstick

2:54 - Bleach, to whiten the chopstick.

Worst is the manufacturer say the packaging side will sterilize the chopstick, while the packaging side said the chopstick are already sterilized from the manufacturing side........

This type of substandard manufacturing practices occurring in China doesn't surprise me at all.

Same goes to India and some eastern European countries.

Ths Old goat LKY thought he could go over there to 're-educate' their ppl.

But what actually turned out, are the PRCs 'invaded' his own country ( thru his own permission) and turn his place , into their ways!:D

That was what KFC did decades ago, embark on the 'finger licking good' tagline to get customers to give up using cutlery (to save costs)

I think i'll bring my own chopsticks next time... tamade... -_-"

Thanks. Whats the fluid they use to clean mouldy chopsticks?

in a hawker centre, would you use a chopstick which was not cleaned 100% or would you use a chemically cleansed disposable chopstick.

or ta pow bring back eat?

Most re-usable Chinese chopsticks are made of plastic. That's even worse. At home, I use Japanese lacquered chopsticks. Not only more hygienic, but Japanese chopsticks are more efficiently shaped, shorter and sharper-tipped and easier to use for simple meals. That's actually Han Dynasty design. Modern Chinese chopsticks are shaped like long thick round-tipped sticks. That's actually Qing Dynasty design with the introduction of steamboat to China, designed to be used with scoops and spoons.
