焦亚硫酸钠, cas 7681-57-4 ---for bleaching

sodium metabisulphite. actually nothing wrong with using it for bleaching. commonly used for wine making also. but those fucker are using industrial grade chemical. actually when reached this step they already disinfect the chopstick...BUT....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_metabisulfite

双氧水 - should be hydrogen peroxide. its actually ok also cos this if you leave it open and heat it will decompose rapidly to merely water and oxygen.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H2o2

无水焦磷酸钠 CAS:7722-88-5

anhydrous Tetrasodium pyrophosphate, this fellow is also ok actually not as bad as what the show trying to convey. its used as food addictive.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrasodium_pyrophosphate

the main issue is the use of wax that is really disgusting and they are using all industrial grade and not food grade chemical.

the issue here is not the chemical they use, is more about the grade of chemical they used. industrial grade chemical is that it might contain many trace amount of heavy metal. food grade chemical are a lot a lot more expensive due to their purity. these mother fuckers really

When I was a kid, my grandma (and many other families and hawkers) used painted (yes, painted, not lacquered) chopsticks for the family. I saw paint peeling off especially after a few rounds of dips in hot soup dishes. I stopped using those and starting using western fork, knife and spoon. My mom had a gift set from her ex-employer where she worked as a part-time babysitter when she was a teenager. Incredibly, the set is still here in use today, looking as good as just bought last month.

Not to say I don't like chopsticks, my dad and me were the two most skilfull handlers of chopsticks in the family. But there needs to commonsense. Chopsticks with paint that peels off or plastic that don't remain straight after a few dips into hot soups shouldn't be used for eating unless you don't mind eating paint and plastic.
