Race 3 - EMERALD HILL --- S$8 win just missed the track record
RACE 1
Special Account (8) has been holding form since he started wearing blinkers. This is a race that does not look too hard on paper. Leading hope. Jumbo (5) made plenty of ground at his last run and has been freshened up since. Not without a say. Princess Janna (6) has early speed but can’t seem to finish her races off. With some luck she can finish on board. Roman Knight (9) is back on Polytrack that he seems to handle slightly better. Place claims.
RACE 2
Positive Thinking (1) was an expensive failure at his last start. A better draw should give him a better fighting chance this time. Blinkers sharpened up Captain Mandolin (2). Will appreciate the extra 200m. Gypsy Star (9) found one better at her last two outings. Likely improver here and will be chiming in late. Profound (4) does come home nicely but gives the impression he is looking for longer trips. Can fill a minor spot.
RACE 3
Debut winner Tough Ruler (7) will find the 1200m trip even more up his alley. Genuine chance. Emblessed (3) is a model of consistency. From his good gate, he is bound to enjoy a cosy run before he stakes his claim in home straight. Royal Style (8) is back in form and must be considered among the leading chances, especially as he will relish a hot pace with so many frontrunners in the field. Hooper (4) may have hit the front too early last time out. Ridden more patiently, he should prove a danger.
RACE 4
On his last-start second, Downing Street (3) has a great chance to open his account. He should be wary of Pied Piper (1) who has changed yard and put in a few good runs at his first starts. Newcomer Scarlet Star (4) has trialled well running a nose second to Super Ahead on April 5. Place claims. After a nice debut, American Vision (8) went backwards second-up. Maybe he did not like the soft track. Reverts to Polytrack and should go better.
RACE 5
Super Good (1) looks unbeatable after his easy win at debut but he may be getting some stiff challenge from newcomer Yin Jie (8), a five-length barrier trial winner on April 5. Jackpot (3) has done well thus far with two seconds on board. First test over turf. Should come through well. Golden Prince (2) ran on strongly in the concluding stages at his debut. Keep safe.
RACE 6
Street Legal (7) flew home from the clouds to fall short by half-a-length last time out. If he reproduces the same run, he should be a force to reckon with here. Bee Ahead (2) will be charging home late as usual. If he times his run better, he can be a factor here. Golden Hawkeye (5) stayed on well at his last outing. Has improved markedly in last runs and looks ready to put best foot forward. Make A Return (1) is always hard to run down when he gets his way in front. Only concern is the big load he is carrying (59kg).
RACE 7
Buzet (1) worked home nicely at his last race. He should be running on again and the three-kilo claim gives him an added edge. Irish Flash (7) came from well back to run third at his last start. With Joao Moreira linking up for a rare association with trainer Brian Dean, he should go close. New Friends (3) is knocking on the door. Will be thereabouts. Can’t Touch Me (6) has lost his way a little but his last-start closing sixth suggests he will be running on over this longer journey.
RACE 8
Silveron Wings (12) should have won his last race if he had found daylight earlier. Will be charging home again. Flying Fulton (2) rarely disappoints and should be right in the mix again. Looks well in on weights. Aserious (6) looked a winner at the top of the straight at his last race, but he ran one-paced in the end. Loves a bit of cut in the ground. Jamal Malik (3) is backing up from his third place to Black Ice last Sunday. Decent claims.
RACE 9
Maple Star (6) is close to bouncing back to winner’s circle. Wears blinkers. Big say. Honest Truth (4) may find his task of leading tougher from the wider gate this time. But if he can get there without spending too much petrol, he should be in the hunt for a long way. Squall Line (5) has been around the mark of late but does not seem to have the same old zip. Place chance looks better. Raleigh (2) has plenty of speed and if he can get a cosy run in transit, a place on board is well within his reach.
RACE 10
A fourth successive Lion City Cup not going the way of
Rocket Man (1) would be an inconceivable script. The Singapore champion sprinter has been flying since he came back from Dubai. The battle for the minors should be hotly contested though. Stablemate Ato (3) is a leading candidate. Recent form is hard to fault and he will be among the first to chase Rocket Man down the home straight. Better Be The One (2) is also in a fine fettle despite his unsuccessful trip in Dubai. Can take the race up to Rocket Man. Mr Big (6) will find this a tougher proposition but he is such a quality three-year-old that it would not surprise if he runs a cheeky race.
RACE 11
Jet Ace (2) can be backed with confidence following his slashing debut win over 1000m. Additional 200m will suit him even better. Premier Grade’s (5) winning turn is not far away. Will be having the last crack inside the last 200m. Speed Demon (3) also scored at debut but did not beat much. This is much harder and a place is more likely. After his surprising debut win, State Trooper (8) did not quite show up at his next two starts. Blinkers come off and an improved showing is on the cards.
