Hit-and-run suspect held
<!-- by line --> <!-- end by line --> A 58-YEAR-OLD man was arrested on Friday night for suspected drink-driving and involvement in a hit-and-run accident. The man was driving along Jalan Besar towards Bencoolen Street when he collided into an elderly cyclist, said police. The driver did not stop and later collided into a parked car along Kelantan lane. The cyclist, 75, sustained abrasions on his limbs and was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment. Police arrested the driver after he failed a breathalyser test, which showed his breath exceeded the legal prescribed alcohol limit by more than twice the amount.
Superintendent of Police Poh Lye Hin, the Acting Commander of Traffic Police, advised all motorists not to drink and drive during this festive period. 'Be driven home if you have taken alcoholic beverages. Make it home safely,' he said.
