Imagine HDB prices in Singapore always go up.

1 day in the near future, resale 4 rm flat sell for $1,000,000. according to market subsidies of 20%, must pay $800,000.

Gan Kim Yong/Goh CT and the other CB ministers wants your children to be cheaper, faster and better. Thus lower salary.

The LHL CB PM cannot control/stop the cheap FTs coming in. Lower salary further.

Singapore's Universities no place for Singaporeans, and those scholarships belong to the elite class, and we have to send children to overseas for further education, depleted our savings further.

CPF to be collected by 82 years old and in the mean time, better not get sick.

Quite a bleak future for the future generations of heartlanders don't you think?

How much do you reckon the next buyer would be prepared to pay the current owner who bought the resale flat that supposedly costs $1million this year in say 25-30 yrs time when that 99 yr lease HDB FLAT has only 30 yrs of lease left?

Very soon, multi generation family living under one roof will not be a sign of filial piety but neccessity out of pressured circumstances.

Highfalutin : Very soon, multi generation family living under one roof will not be a sign of filial piety but neccessity out of pressured circumstances.
When the 99 yr lease TIME BOMB blows up, it will be even MORE serious than the above. The aged will suffer 2 scenarios:
1. Becoming homeless (expired leases)- cannot afford to buy BTO flats.
2. Have no more money for retirement, stuck with an almost worthless HDB flat (30-35 yr lease left) which no one will buy.

Unlike the 60s and 70s when the population was young and cost of living was low, it was possible to build cheap housing. Now we have an aging population who have little cash apart from an inflated HDB flat which will become worthless when the 99 yr lease nears expiry and the cost of living is very high. Even if they want to work, who will employ them and how much money can one scrap picking cardboard boxes/aluminium cans and suffering from degenerative old age diseases!

I see aged homeless people with no money living in void decks (no children/relatives to fall back on), tents on the beaches or the emergence of a new cardboard shanty-town.

We just see that it's hits $1 million and beyond .
It's the inevitable of external manipulation .
FTs already kickstart the process .

No HDB flat will last more than 60 year. Only less than 10 year some crack can easily visible. Flat that more than 30 year can see clearly many major crack that need mojar repair.
For my own jugdement all HDB flat will be torn down before 50 and rebuilt with new/replace will condo.
How many HDB flat have reach age 50? None.
How many reach 40? Only few very soon will be torn down
