TWO boys were killed in a gruesome traffic accident outside Dunman Secondary School earlier on Monday.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it had received a call at around 5:43pm, and that the boys died after being hit by a cement truck at the junction of Tampines Ave 9 and Tampines St 45. The boys - aged 10 and 13 - were found dead at the scene when SCDF officers arrived.

Photographs of the accident have since been circulating online.

It's just outside a school even. Aren't there signs to warn motorists to slow down and be alert upon the approach of schools? God damned motorists.

While those who are faster should see, it is the slower one that is at risk and danger when it comes to collision.

So if you are slower, make sure you see first before you make a move.

Pedestrians speed is slower than any cars or lorry....

The fast one must look out...

The students who were leaving Dunman and saw the horrific scene would be traumatised. This would probably remain with them forever. That is the worst part.

Tampines is one of those towns that allow cyclists and pedestrians to use the same path. Based on that, you think safety is on the top of the mind of the policy planners at Tampines?

sinkieland resembles china tier 3 city ...jesus christ......

work safety kept checking, spot check, summon industrial estate business operators for non-compliance... LTA knows better these trucking route, passby peasantville and totally put school zone kids at risk..... there is MRT works just opp TPJC....

but alas, area aint serangoon, bukit timah... expendable

Just yesterday, I walked on that pavement near to where these poor boys were killed..

There is a construction site there..

RIP to these boys..

I suggest you'd call for a total ban of pedestrians on the road as well?

There are designated pedestrian crossings, but there are no designated cyclists' lanes on the roads.

Again, do all pedestrians adhere to designated pedestrian crossings? So, isn't it best to ban them from the roads altogether?

The children's parents are to blamed for the accident. Everyone in Singapore drives a car, why is there a need to ride a bicyce?

So you saying we should ban all motorists from the road altogether too?

Pedestrians crossings are clearly marked for motorists to keep a lookout, but the same can't be said for cyclists who share the roads with motorists.

Hmm..... I smell some similar sarcasm here, just like someone from the recently concluded BE had just said. :D

These lorry drivers, cement mixer drivers, mobile crane drivers, bus drivers ....are the kings of the roads or road bullies....u have to give way to them or u just got knock off the road.
Just 1 or 2 week ago,1 lorry driver knock down a lady scooter rider.

they have become tyrants on the road
all the bus lanes and special lanes have made them very arrogant and very righteous
if you don't give way or if you cut into their lanes, you are dead ducks!!!

there is a need to reduce their tyranny on the roads!!! they are merciless killers....

I really don't understand why parents allow their kids to rid bicycles on the road. I really wonder why. So sad. No words can console their parents.

old uncle many times nearly kana knocked by cyclists on pedestrain paths...many of them driven by reckless foreigners/construction workers..and they simply litter the whole place with all sorts of rubbish..

there is an urgent need to address this problem...just look around your neighbourhood....it's terrible!!!

Hate to see this kind of news...feel very sad...i can't imagine the families now..
