If say no, US withdraw from Changi (but probably not). No upside for Singapore either way, so best is to ask US not to invite, and just keep diam-diam. Same thing for the US democracy summit. No way the US didn’t want to invite Singapore. After all, we host a naval base, we buy their weapons. US would like to pull Singapore away from China, but PAP dun wan. very good. makes sense. I selectively forgot how much investments they sunk into China. Holy shit, there's no way out. Not only trying to suck on dry panda, but tied to the damn panda. The investments in China were quite horrific in my mind so I blocked them out... Then again, with Temasek's "excellent" track record, I should not be surprised should I?
