MR TAN SHAO KEN: 'Amid news of the programme line-up of this year's National Day Parade (NDP), I am curious why Singaporean talent based overseas, such as United States-based singer Corrinne May and international film star Gong Li, were not co-opted. Won't the former, for instance, be an ideal choice to sing the National Day theme song? Singapore's NDP lags behind in the star category compared to similar events in China, Japan and Hong Kong. Should we not include overseas-based Singaporean talent? I hope next year's NDP organising committee will make more of an effort to do so.'
