George Yeo: "We should draw strength from Hwei Yen's sacrifice."????

Yes. Just saw her husband on the telly give a brief account of her last few hours. Felt really sorry for him although I think perhaps he would have been better advised not to meet press and expose his raw pain and emotion, poor chap broke down sobbing. He said she was "brave", yes perhaps but again to GY where was the "sacrifice"?
George Yeo: "For us in Singapore, we should draw strength from Hwei-Yen's sacrifice."

Putting his foot in his mouth, just like PM Lee.

Trying to paint Ms Lo to be Singapore's heroine, when she just happened to be an unfortunate victim of the terrorists in Mumbai.

Sometimes, those politicians talk too much meaningless stuff, trying to score points.

Reminds me of a joke I heard: " Sometimes, it's better to keep quiet & be thought a fool than open your mouth & confirm it." :) :D

Why do you think he agreed to meet the press?

I too am wondering why the need to go public and feed the sensationalistic media. Maybe there is hidden meaning in his words. LOL

Hello George Yeo, I suggest you go read the eye witness account by American Michael Pollack in Forbes, the you shall understand and appreciate what true "sacrifice" and courage is all about...

"...Some may say our survival was due to random luck, others may credit devine intervention. But I can assure you only one thing: Far fewer people would have survived if it weren't for the extreme selflessness shown by the Taj staff, who orgabised us, catered to us and then, in the end, literally died for us"

The Chef @ Taj

The Nanny to the now orphaned Jewish toddler

In Situations like these, true courage will show, you will be surprise what normal folks can do.

At the same time, you will also see cowards, who will not hesitate to push someone else in harms way so he can stay alive.

Dirty Harry has proven beyond any reasonable doubt to me, what kind of person he is, when he volunteer his service to the Japs during WW2.

Yes like that PRC teacher now known as "Running Fan" because he just got the shit out of the classroom during the Sichuan earthquake to save his ass:D

I remember this clown, he even appear in TV, justifying his actions. A cowards always have some justifications for it.

In all sincerity, perhaps it's time the government ministries gauge sentiments on the ground by trolling forums like this before engaging their political mileage profiting manoeuvres!
