Gentings Sentosa set to fail

All casinos can go to hell and be prime suicide bombing spots.

Two for the price of one. What a double-shift to the martyrs and Allah will double your windfalls of virgins to 144.

Just curious; will it help if church lighthouse relocate to Genting Sentosa to bring in the crowd?

Why they never activate BMT recruits to queue up at the main entrance?

Got ERP to Casino meh?:confused:

I feel now is not the right time to judge the fate of the casino, because their main target are not Singaporeans, holiday seasons are the one to lookout for.

And quantity doesnt mean anything in Casino, i rather have 1 high roller gambler than 20 ordinary gamblers :cool::cool:

For a casino to succeed, you need the mass market to provide the bread & butter as well as the high rollers.

CNA reported that 6000 people visited RWS today, but their cameras showed most of the gaming tables were
empty and their croupiers looked bored to death!

The news is out all over town. On Genting's casino grand-opening, only about 200 people turned up to gamble.

They only opened up about 50 tables out of 188 tables on the ground floor where the main hall is situated.

According to inside sources, Tan Sri T K Lim, Chairman of Gentings S'pore is terribly disappointed.

Genting's Resort World Sentosa will not succeed and old scum will report at hell's main gate soon!

Morale of casino staff at RWS is extremely low after today's grand-opening which failed to draw in the crowds.

God is great. Hallelujah!

in true sinkie fashion you can only celebrate the failures of others in hope of dragging them down to your level

common sense should tell you that most chinese singaporeans would be out visiting their relatives on the 1st day afternoon. and which face conscious singaporean will want her relatives to call her a du2 gui3 if she is seen lining up to go casino on 1st day instead of visiting???

Today RWS opened Sinchiapore's 1st casino at 12.18 pm.

Unlike MGM, Sands and Wynn recent opening in Macao, there was no queue at all. By 2.30 pm only half of their gaming tables on the ground floor
were opened up to cater to their customers. The upper floor which houses the Maxim and Crockford Rooms for the high rollers were not even opened.

When Burswood Casino opened its doors in Perth during the 90's, a city of one million population, the queue line to seek entrance into the casino was
two mile long.

Today being the 1st day of the Lunar New Year when most folks traditionally would love a flutter on the gaming tables, it is indeed a sure sign that
Genting's Resort World Sentosa would head for collapse.

Dear Soikee,

Some kind bros of this forum have posted a Channel 8 news, and the reporter quoted that there were 6,000 people....

However, the camera man's only focus on the first batch of queue, and later we see Fire Crackers in the news report ( I think this is truly a double standard ruling, as I thought SINGAPORE have banned FIRE CRACKERS???? )

There is hardly 6,000 people... and there is a footage on the Casino's interior, and it is like a ghost town...

CLOSE THE CASINOS!!!!

WE DO NOT NEED CASINOS in SINGAPORE!!!!

The real money for casino is not those tables outside but the vvip rooms.

In other casino, high rollers are happy to bring 5 million to gamble and lose half of it, because the balance of the money will be cleaned. But our casino there will be checks on them so they are not willing to come here.

As for the other main attraction Universal Studio, the contract is a 1 sided one, RWS is definitely losing alot just to bring that in to form an IR. If the profit of the casino side is not as good as expected, the burden of Universal Studio might speed up the death.

Marina Sand is also having a lot of problems as they do not have a date for opening, all the workers are taken away by RWS. So there might be some poaching of staff when the opening is near. Most of the confident is lost, big F&B group like Taste Paradise, which can spend $4m renovation for the ION outlet, change their plan. The outlet in Marina Sand which is suppose to be fine dining, downgrade to dim sum only and now downgrade further to Paradise Inn which is the cheapest concept.

Good Luck to Both IRs.

From what I understand, most of the patronage to Casino comes from the local population, Genting Malaysia, is a good example, where a good portion of the gamblers are local. As for tourist dollars, just imagine, if they were to come from Europe, there is casino over there, from Australia, there is casino over there too, same goes for China, there is always Macao, from US, there is always Vegas. Why would anyone comes all the way from their country to visit Singapore, to gamble away, when they could do it in their own backyard.

I believe, the S$100 levy will be abolished, just a matter of time. As some gambler might say, even before I enter the Casino, I have already loss S$100, levy or not, that's not a good sign or beginning to start with.

The $100 surcharge is to keep the old ladies from going to the casinoes. The local NTUC, safra etc etc already has Jackpot machines. If there is no surcharge, these clubhouses will be empty as jackpot players will flock to the casinoes where the service is better and there is free food and drinks.

So please do not think that the surcharge is to prevent problem gambling. Its to keep the local vested interest alive.
