Gardens By The Bay

good question...expensive as it costs $95m a year to maintain

my goodness $95m a year to run. How much did they collect in return and the problem is once shut off all the plants will die and left with nothing. No choice but to pay forever. And I doubt many will pay to go in , I saw many visitors just hang around outside in the free garden. I also didn't go in.

cost of running GBTB is at Singaporeans expense. The $95m benefits favoured contractors and favoured service providers .

That's the way things are done in SG

The Jewel will be another big cash cow to favoured contractors. Guess who has to foot the $1B cost?

The jewel is a shopping centre is it ? Can't recall what is the purpose. But if shopping centre at least can collect rental..

The Jewel - A world-class attraction of glass and steel
wonderland, the breathtaking centrepiece of a lush indoor garden replete with a
waterfall that will capture the hearts of those at home

Is it wise to invest $1B of tax payers money into Jewel?

my goodness so it is another useless man made structure with no real attraction. The only consolation is no need 95m to run it a year. Actually I think we lose tens of billions in a matter of months, spending 1B to build this useless thing is okay as long as when come to other more useful things the government don't complain no money and got to increase tax.

you decide whether it is worth spending $1B of tax payers' money to build the Jewel at Terminal 1 carpark.

who are the ones who will benefit from this Jewel Project?

I think it is not worth but at least the dollar spent Get something in return, not like the tens of billions that were invested and simply evaporated into thin air. In terms of benefit, the only benefit the masses get is to take photo in front of it. And there may be some minute attraction that STB can use for promoting Spore.

think deeper and analyse why the pap wants to spend such money

i think many SG attractions are not makiing money.

For example, the SG Flyer...it is in financial trouble and I wont be surprised if it goes into liquidation

Just only a garden in an air-con green house.

what kind of benefits do you think they get?

I read from this forum that the exceptional family and relatives are in power of positions in government and civil service. So naturally their friends should also be in some favoured position vs an outsider.

yes..gbtb amounts to that...but the cost is killing, $1.035B for building it and $95 for annual maintenance. someone gets very rich in this GBTB project at the expense of SG tax payers

cronyism? benefiting their own people and contacts?

Actually I have realised that cronyism is everywhere, even in forum.

do you then accept that cronyism is ok?

can we identify the type of cronyism in the pap?

can we do the same for the forum?

actually are there many types of cronyism? I am not sure about the types but I think to eliminate cronyism the only way is to ensure nobody has absolute power over anything over a long period of time. Like PAP also started with being pro citizens but too long in power and they have taken people for granted and so no qualms to call us names.
