The sex forum requires 5 dedicated quad core servers and a separate server for MySQL. A load balancer ties everything together. In addition, this sort of set up requires 5 licenses for each software package that is installed. The hardware and software overheads are huge and so is the bandwidth consumed every month
On the other hand, this forum can run on one virtual host.

When I first started the forum way back in 1997, it was primarily for the exchange of information regarding LEGAL whores operating out of the govt sanctioned red light districts.
At the request of many members, I also added a section on Health Centres accompanied by a warning that sex in HCs was illegal and could lead to serious consequences.
However, when the govt (not me) opened the floodgates to foreign whores, the sammyboy forum was seen by astute operators as potential goldmine for the marketing of such services and traffic, bandwidth and forum overheads soared more than 500% in a short space of a year.
I tried my best to keep the forum true to its roots by setting up an obscure alternative FL forum on a different host and removing freelancer threads and posts in the main forum. However, the task overwhelmed me and I did not fancy the idea of spending hours moderating the forum on a daily basis. I have much more interesting things to do with my life.
It soon became obvious that the good old easy going spirit of sharing was not going to pay the astronomical bandwidth and hosting bill at the end of the month. I was therefore forced to make a stark choice... either shut down the forum or turn it into a commercially viable entity.
Since I didn't have the logistical set up necessary to run the forum profitably, I leased the forum to those who did.
I am not going to go into the laws and ethics regarding the current model. It is the PAP govt who created the current situation. I have nothing to do with planeloads of whores who arrive in the country on a daily basis. The govt could shut down the freelancer trade OVERNIGHT at the source if they wanted to but they have done nothing. I leave it to you to read between the lines.
My advice to you is that if you're not happy with the forum, DON'T VISIT! Nobody is stopping you from setting up a competing website where you are free to do whatever you please. However, don't expect the moderators at sammyboyforum.com to give you FREE PUBLICITY by allowing you to post your links and promote your site. The internet does not work that way anymore. If you want to advertise your own forum or group, then PAY for the adverts just like everyone else.
I started sammyboyforum from scratch. I never sent a single spam mail. Neither did I post a single message in any other forum. There is no reason why you can't do the same if you set your mind to it.
I have to keep the database trim in order to keep the forum running smoothly. If you contribute nothing but rubbish and vulgarities, the posts will be removed on a periodic basis.

For once, I am amazed to see that you have totally pushed off the blame to the rest of the people except yourself. Your forum has a moderation scheme where your user has to post a certain number of postings in order to get out of moderation. Imagine, which operator will do that if they have to go through the moderation, get the nick being deleted and again register a new one?
If you want to run your entity this way saying that you have nothing to do with this, whatever.

I did not set up a competing website to compete with you. In your vbulletin forum, there is a social group platform for members to run their own social group. I run a social group sharing field reports because field reports in your main forum which relates a poor and lousy service either gets deleted by your moderators or the person who posts the field report gets zapped to moderation.
What happened to this social group? It got closed down by YOU. When you closed down the social group, you didn't even bothered explaining until I PMed you twice. Twice. 2 times. Dua You said the social group was closed down because it lagged your whole forum.
Whether this is a valid reason or not, i leave it to everyone else to think. So I set up a yahoo group. I have no other platform for other people who wish to post their field reports in your forum, because your whole social group is down. I set up a free forum for people to post. If your social group is up for people like us to share, I wouldn't even have to set up a yahoo group or even a website for people like you to say now I am setting up something to compete with you.
Soon your moderator start to censure the forum and even the yahoo group. I understand. The field reports in the forum are starting to affect some of your guilty operators or should I say pimps which you have inevitably 'endorsed' to advertise in your forum.
Your pimp even go to the extent of getting the yahoo group deleted and the forum shutdown. This is how threatened they felt.

You want me to open my eyes on your take, can, sure, no problem. but you should open your eyes on what others are saying and not be blinded by your greed of money just by saying you leased it out to another company. Unless you are telling me you don't earn a single cent from leasing that forum out.
I take care of the technical aspects of the forum and one of the problems that the site has been facing over the past couple of months is frequent database error messages and very slow response during peak hours. This coincided with the upgrade of the vbulletin software to rev 3.8. which has numerous new features one of which being the "social group" function.
In order to troubleshoot, I had no choice but to disable numerous new features in order to remove a host of new variables. The social group function is one of many that I disabled.
As a result of that, I received more than 250 emails, PMs etc from members demanding to know why a particular new feature they had been enjoying was suddenly not available. Till today, I have not responded to all of them... there are simply too many to deal with. I ended up having to prioritise and responded only to those I felt were the most affected. Your PM fell into that category and that is why you received a response in the first place.
You have to realise that running the forum is not my full time job. It's just a hobby. I do it in my free time and I try my best to do a decent job. If you feel that I have failed, then I deserve to lose you as a member as you are at liberty to join some other forum which better serves your needs.
As for being money faced, I am anything but. However, there was a limit as too how much money I was willing to lose every month had I not leased the forum out. The overheads are in excess of USD3000 per month. I don't have that sort of money to burn.
The bottom line now is that those who currently pay the bills call the shots. I work for them now. If you are willing to front up with the $$$, I'll work for you and do your bidding. That's the way the world works in this day and age.
I'll end by being perfectly blunt. If you're not happy with the way things are being run, go somewhere else. Don't log on.. boycott all the advertisers and set up a competing forum. In short, do whatever makes you happy but don't come here and tell me how I should or should not run the show. I make decisions in my life which I feel are in my best interests and I'm sure you do the same. I don't question the decisions you make. Neither do I try to question your motives in life and suggest that there are flaws in your character. Is it too much to expect the same courtesy from you?

When it comes to removing garbage, it pretty much depends upon whether I had a good breakfast and the sort of mood I am in when I'm doing forum housekeeping.

Had you not used LARGE red font, I may have overlooked it if I had been in a good mood. However, the language used plus the in-your-face fonts was probably the tipping point. I simply thought to myself.. the forum does not need this sort of shit so I simply zapped them all with a couple of mouse clicks.
Would I do it again if I saw the same thing today?.. probably not as I'm in a pretty good mood now and feel a bit more tolerant. I had a good weekend and things have been going well for me over the past week or so. However, seeing members bringing innocent female family members to bolster their debating skills never goes down well with me. There is never any justification to bring mothers' cheebyes into the discussion unless you happen to be a gynecologist.
However, by the end of the week, my mood may have changed and some other arsehole who is trying to mess up my forum may end up with the same fate.

I've been seeing the same old shit day in day out for more than a week and I've been extremely tolerant. There is no need to copy and paste the same message multiple times and all in upper case too. However, If it carries on for a few more days, all those posts are history. Don't get me wrong.. I have no objections with regards to the content. In fact, I pretty much agree with him but why on earth must the same message be posted OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND ALL IN UPPER CASE????? There is a limit to everything.
If I set up a list of rules like that, I might as well shut the forum down.
My rules are very simple.
1)No spam, no graffiti and no xxx stuff.
Spam = adverts, affiliate links, multiple copies of the same message.
Graffiti = example "fuck your mother stinking cheebye" etc posted over and over and over again in extra large fonts or caps.
2) Posts in the correct section please eg religious stuff in the section reserved for that purpose.. crime stuff in the crime section, international news in the international section and so on.
I don't get involved in personal quarrels. If two members want to argue and curse each other till the cows come home, go ahead as long as they don't violate 1) and 2).
My final piece of advice.. not happy with sammyboy? there are loads of alternative forums. Nobody is forced to join and log on.
Using small fonts would help as I probably wouldn't notice it. As they say in the army.. do whatever you want but don't get caught.
