Signalling fault causes delay at MRT stations

SINGAPORE: A signalling fault near Marina Bay Station resulted in delays for southbound MRT trains heading into the city on Thursday morning.
SMRT said this was at around 7.50 am and the signalling fault was resolved in 13 minutes.
In a twitter post at 9am, SMRT said commuters can expect delays from Yishun to Jurong East, and that they should allow extra time for travel.
SMRT acknowledged that commuters experienced an eight-minute delay in their journey along the North-South Line as a result of the fault.
It said the returning northbound train service was also affected as the trains took more time to turn around after Marina Bay station.
SMRT also routed one eastbound train heading towards Raffles Place to the north.
Nine southbound trains were also routed for returning northbound service via Outram Park station instead of Marina Bay.
SMRT said announcements were made at all stations and a twitter message was also sent to inform passengers of the general delay.
The company also apologised to commuters who experienced delays in their journeys this morning.
