Out of curiosity, I googled desso grass system and noted that they have 2 projects (in South America & Africa) located near the equator like Sg. However, these 2 projects are just open field, with open ventilation. Their other projects are all in temperate zones where humidity is low.

Good luck to the clever people who manage and operate the stadium. It will take many more months for the grass to grow. Hope the contract requires desso to pay for the losses and not just use the stadium as the r & d site for growing their grass in a covered stadium with high humidity. At the end the system may not work here at all.

A fine example of lacking in ability to know what is important and believing what ever bullshit the consultants have thrown at them. "Grow grass" is easy but it is not the same when you need grass that is soft and hardy, and can survive in a hot humid glass box that traps heat like a greenhouse in the desert. This is the problem when we put someone with no experience nor vision to take charge.

that is not the issue. the issue is incompetence. The stadium took years to build, there is lots of lead time to plant the grass. They should have planted the grass in the last quarter of 2013. this gives them enough time to see whether this exotic desso grass can flourish in singapore or not. if the grass did not flourished, they could have come up with a contingency plan and plant regular grass before the stadium was officially opened. Instead, they waited until May to decide on the grass and have it planted and when it failed, they had no back up plan at all. This is incompetence and not the fault of Desso people. The grass company are happy to take the money of the stupid PAP. For all we know, they might have already had a strong idea the grass was wrong for singapore but kept quiet to collect the money. But the SSC and other orgs in charge of the construction are all staffed by ex SAF generals who know shit, and hence got taken advantage off.

In other countries when there is a super high profile international news attracting cock up like that, somebody's head will roll and the govt will have to act decisively to put things right.

Here no news from the PAP Minister in Charge Lawrence Wong-who ironically was calling on Citizens to be active in seeking solutions to improve Singapore whilst he kept quiet with his million dollars salary.

The WP trade fair and fixing Roy and HHH seems to be more important to the pappy.

Answer: A public apology from some govt. agency eg SSC, Minister for Sports, etc to the affected parties.

This is not a local embarassment anymore, its a very public international embarassment. When Juventus and the Brazilian National team criticizes you for endangering their player's legs and ankles playing on that shit pitch, you have to man up and say something. When jay Chou has to cancel his concert because of the grass, its time to say sorry. This PAP never admit wrong policy has never flown in singapore, but sinkies have no choice but to put up with it. This is different. The entire world can see it. TV stations buy air time and broadcasting rights to show the Brazil V Japan game to million of fans world wide, and fans pay tickets but end up buying a game that is not played with 100% effort by the players for fear of injuring themselves.
