Exchange Rates for RM

If Johor breakaway from Malaysia and join Singapore, Johorians will cry when everyone starts using Sing dollars in Johor instead of ringgit

Najib's popularity is plunging and even Johor is thinking of breaking away from Malaysia. Tough time ahead for RM.

Nay don't think so.
A secession will not occur unless by force with the Johor Military Force taking the lead but also very unlikely due to their numbers and duties (ceremonial and menial only in their daily tasks eg: buy Straits Times newspaper every morning at Marsiling market for the Sultan using the JMF jeep....haha NOT kidding here). Furthermore the moment Malaysia declared independent, all pre-independent treaties between state government and the British became null and void. Federal Govt will not stand one side and do nothing about this lest other states start doing the same thing. East Malaysian states and east coast states like Trengganu, Kedah and Kelantan all harbour grievances. Again nay dont think so

Is that the rate on display or you have to ask ?
For this money changer quote was the display rate. If u change more it will usually be even slightly better. One bro here also highly recommend the one at JB Sentral.

The RM will stay weak for a while, here're some of the reasons why :

Malaysia’s economy expanded at the slowest pace in more than two years as private consumption eased, adding pressure on policy makers to bolster growth and boost confidence.

Another reason :
For the second time within a year, Petronas has made significant impairments on its upstream assets, leading it to report a 99% year-on-year drop in its profits from its upstream business in its third quarter ended Sept 30
But downside risks to growth remain as commodity prices continue to stay weak and political uncertainty lingers in Malaysia.

A low ringgit is good for us. My S$1000 a month spending was RM 2200 a few years ago. Now it is RM 3000. Damn shiok
