Today (June 16), to mark five decades since the start of Singapore’s greening efforts, Mr Lee, who has since planted more than 60 trees in Singapore, planted a Rain tree at Holland Village Park.

Today’s tree planting event also signifies the launch of 1963 Commemorative Tree Planting, an initiative by the National Parks Board and its Garden City Fund (GCF), to commemorate 50 Years of Greening Singapore. More than 6,000 members of the public will plant 1,963 trees from today until November.
The initiative has raised over S$470,000 for the GCF, and will contribute to the cost of planting these trees, as well as enhance the biodiversity and heritage value of the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
“We are very encouraged by the overwhelming response from the public for the planting of 1,963 trees to commemorate 50 Years of Greening Singapore. We look forward to the strong support from the community as we continue to co-create a greener and more vibrant City in a Garden,” said Mr Poon Hong Yuen, Chief Executive Officer at NParks.
Individuals and organisations who are interested in planting trees can still participate and contribute to the GCF’s Plant-A-Tree Programme.

Singaporeans waited and waited and waited ......for the final.

And look who's sitting beside LKY... do you think he will be the future PM after LHL?

Its time the authorities do some planning on which tree to plant at the future grave of Lau Lee..

I suggest the Money Plant Tree..

According to my feng-shui master, it's only a matter of months when the old leaf would drop off.

seems like a national past time to observe how the old man is doing... :p:p:p

“We must encourage those who earn less than $200 per month and cannot afford to nurture and educate many children never to have more than two… We will regret the time lost if we do not now take the first tentative steps towards correcting a trend which can leave our society with a large number of the physically, intellectually and culturally anaemic.”
- Lee Kuan Yew, 1967

Maybe there'll be a live telecast of him on his death bed, giving his final speech to the nation.

Wait for the emperor to 驾崩.

I wonder if he will outlive that tree?

Which tree will the last leaf fall?? They say he planted a tree..but look carefully, the tree had already being planted...all he did was to hold the spade & wonder if it was too heavy for him?
