An English teacher at a Kanagawa middle school recently subjected his students to an impromptu “show and tell” when he inadvertently played a porn film that had been left in his DVD player instead of the innocuous classic, “The Sound of Music”.
But netizens have been quick to jump to the teacher’s defense, pointing out that any man could find themselves in his shoes.
The teacher claims he had brought the DVD player from home. Let’s hope it’s not the one he uses for private lessons.

Kanagawa Middle School Teacher Means To Play Famous Film For Students But Plays Porn DVD Instead
At Mannou Municipal Middle School, Mannou, Kanagawa Prefecture, there was a scandal when an English teacher in his fifties was about to show his students the well-know American film “The Sound of Music”, but ended up playing them a porn DVD that belonged to him.
According to a Mannou municipal education committee member, the male teacher attempted to show his first year class [aged 12 -13] “The Sound of Music” as an educational resource, and when he asked his students to connect the DVD player, which he had brought in himself, the adult DVD that had originally been inserted in the player was played in the classroom for a few seconds.
Due to the fact that at that time there had been no DVD player in the classroom, the teacher brought it from home. The porn film belonged to him, and the obscene footage, which played automatically when the DVD player was connected, was a scene that his students later revealed their shock at, saying “We were so surprised”.
When the 29 students in his class were surveyed, 8 had witnessed the footage. There were phone calls of complaint to the school from the children’s guardians almost immediately. Around 70 people attended an explanatory session the next day for all guardians with children at the school.
The teacher himself said, “I hadn’t used that DVD player for more than 2 years. I apologise sincerely to the students”. The prefectural education committee policy is to punish the teacher.
