Chitchat Elections Results Shows That.....

Things hasn’t exactly moved in last decade for opposition.....

1) Opposition politics still stuck in 2011
2) Oppie voters are very patient and optimistic.....always looking to next elections

We've come a long way from automatic walkovers on nomination day.

Blame LKY for stunting the evolution of the opposition in the 1980s and 1990s, so his feckless son can be put at the helm.

Most voters don't want to change the PAP government because in spite of its flaws, the PAP government had done fairly well as compared against neighbouring governments or those in the developed societies. Covid-19 had killed hundreds of thousands worldwide, while barely 30 people died in Singapore, mostly foreigners.

Even the kind of oppies that sinkies prefer are the oppies who behave almost like PAP in public policy. Sinkies mostly reject oppies like JBJ, Lim Tean, Chee regardless of how eloquent they come across. These oppies have public policies that are too different from PAP.
Eh hello, Singaporeans did not reject JBJ. JBJ got viciously fixed by LKY.

Without the stupid undemocratic GRC....the end results would have been fairer.

It'll be interesting going ahead. PAP's majority had dropped by 8% from 69% to 61%. Those bloody so-called 4G leaders will all have to do some soul searching if they want a larger share in the next GE.

LTK had done the right thing by stepping down and this indirectly indicates that he's taking responsibility for the fiasco in the AHTC accounting mismanagement, thereby gaining more sympathetic votes for Aljunied. Let's hope Pritam Singh and Sylvia Lim will not disappoint them going forward.

In my opinion, there are only 2 credible Opposition teams in the political arena: Tan Cheng Bock's PSP and Pritam Singh's WP. If only had those smaller ones will consolidate and merge with these 2 giants, the result this morning could have been more devastating for the PAP. Until then, let's wait for the performance during the next 5 years before analysing again on how the next GE will turn out.

WP there is no questioning them. They have the seats in parliament!

East is also WP.

Now the west. SDP had been working the west for a while. But nothing.

PSP is a new party and one can argue they have done better than SDP has in a decade.

So maybe East WP.

West PSP.

Can CSJ PT and TCB merge? Leave the SDP brand. It is no longer good.

Majority still fear and want play safe choosing a government.
Covid19 and employment bad cases everyone knows.
But the $600 support money make them feel happy.
Most people believe we cannot live without the pap.
This has been conditioned in our mind all this years by media and education.
Like I said before Pap always win big.
This is majority choices and so accept it

Politics is not about fairness.
It is about how the current power continue to win big but making sure they have their back cover.
Opposition until now still don't get the idea only consolidation is the way move forward.

Also an endorsement for a non-Chinese Chief of Alternative Parties.

how many vote swing by new citizens and older generation? any analysis ? how many vote swing by "new voters"?

TCB was a big disappointment...and him being 80yo will likely not contest the next GE.

I tell you next GE PAP will come out with new blazing weapons.

One of which will be HDB flat lease extension or schemes for people with HDB flat lease expiring to be able to buy new flats etc.

Pritam Singh is non chinese
Paul Thambayah is non chinese and nearly won the election
Tharman is non chinese and he got the highest majority
KJ is non chinese and he managed to slash LHL majority

That’s right! We’re ready for a non-Chinese PM!
Tharman wants to be the conductor?

Bukit Batok has many Indian communities and U look at Murali majority? how many vote swing?
How I know that BB has many Indian communities? I saw many Indian grocery stalls and many of them selling Indian vegetables!

He is not a disappointment la, but the results are. Considering his first time as an Oppo, it has already made a big dent in the PAP's confidence towards this rival party. Yes, being 80 years old, he may not be in the game again in the next GE. If so, then it's a pity that his party did not manage to win this morning.

Based on the increase in non PAP MPs elected, the share of the votes, nd close fights, I believe that there is hope, because these results will encourage more individuals to step forward for the next general elections.
Inspite of the odds and obstacles, the Workers Party and its volunteers have done well.
Keep it up.

Voters are a fickle lot. Don't read too much into it. There's a lack of feel good factors going into this election. As far as Sengkang voters are concerned, they were probably pissed off by the long queue.
If the WP MPs work hard and serve the residents well, I reckon Sengkang could very well be the next Aljunied or Hougang.

Khun Narong , educating Daft Sinkies to be more politically savvy is a long and slow painful process.
