CERTIFICATE of entitlement (COE) prices for passenger cars continued their upward climb - and with greater ferocity - at the close of March's second bidding exercise on Wednesday.

Premiums for the open category - usually used for cars - rose a whopping 52.2 per cent to finish at $42,001. This is a marked jump from the month's first bidding exercise which only saw a 13.9 per cent hike.

For cars up to 1,600 cc, the COE prices soared by 36.4 per cent to $28,389 - a clear spike from the modest 2.3 per cent rise posted after March's earlier bidding.

In category B - cars above 1,600cc - premiums ended off at $36,089, a 36.7 per cent increase compared to a 10.5 per cent rise earlier.

The commercial vehicle COE prices, category C, showed no signs of letting up either, climbing 21.8 per cent to $32,890.

Come on come on!! you believe COE price increased?? you mean car buyer willing pay more to buy cars??? what a big bullshit!! it's LTA who wanted more money!! reducing COE they will inflat the price, there's no transparency in the COE bidding, it's all close door!! tomorrow they 'll announce COE hit big time $100K for cars above 1601cc!!

After flooding this place with FT they cut the COE supply and you dont need rocket scientist to know price will soar. We do not have the resources to cater to the large number of FT that is the reason why all the prices are shooting up once the economy improve. It is happening to properties, now cars and soon food and other essentials. The ft policy is really doing alot of harm.

right on. that's why sinkieland is NOT a free market economics despite all the bullsh!t in shitty times you hear. when something goes down , they would cut the supply so that the price goes up like property(land sales), cars(COEs), petrol(3/4 tank rule), etc. in the end only the rich businessmen and property developers get rich and 99.9999999% of the population suffers and are tied to million dollar mortgage and work like hell everyday to pay bills. so what this about swiss standard of living.

whatever goes up will come down...it's the timing...COE up is simply due to the cutting of quota...Everyone except for the few wealthy ones need to slog to pay for the car...

i hope COE can hit 100k again because 1st it is not my problem, 2nd i vote for any opposition or even a cat or a dog if they can take part in the election. I am not one of those 66.6% which is the cause of this shit, and many many other shit.

Then using their ERP reasoning, they will raise the prices of public transport when more ppl cannot afford car and take MRT and Buses. Simply they will say too many ppl taking public transport, so have to raise prices just like there are too many cars. Bravo!!
