With Prof Gavin, PS (National Research and Development) Chan Lai Fung, Prof Thomas Coffman, Ong Ye Kung, Goh Yew Lin, Prof Wang Linfa and Prof Antonio Bertoletti. Thanks for the enriching and informative tour and discussion.
Thank you to all residents who joined us for our annual East Coast Hari Raya celebrations! It was wonderful to be able to gather together again for good makan and conversation. Not forgetting our healthcare frontliners (who are also East Coast residents) who were able to join us. We can never thank them enough for their contributions in keeping Singapore and Singaporeans safe during the pandemic.
I also enjoyed the live music and dance performances by Ryzall Noh and Addy Cradle, Bedok View Secondary School, ITE College East and ATTRIANS Singapore. I hope everyone had fun catching up with old friends, and making new ones!
This beautiful kampung house photobooth was designed and made entirely using recycled materials! Kudos to Siglap grassroots leaders Beh SK and Cindy Goh for their creative work and for contributing to a greener East Coast!

Nice to be able to catch up with Bedok MAEC Vice Chairman Narimah (in red), her family, as well as residents over some good makan. Last year, we were only able to celebrate virtually.
Enjoyed the rousing Dikir Barat performance by students from ITE College East. Had to take a wefie to celebrate this special moment!

Showing appreciation to some of our healthcare workers for their dedication and commitment throughout the pandemic. Soh Wei Peng has been helping out with the operations at Bedok CC Vaccination Centre.
Another wefie with the Guzheng Ensemble from Bedok View Secondary School. Their rendition of ‘Chan Mali Chan’ was well-received by residents!

The 31st SEA Games officially comes to an end today.
It has been a good showing from our athletes, with its fair share of ups and downs, and heart-stopping moments. We have seen some personal bests and new Games records. We also had some of our best showings from some sports.
While catching up on Team Singapore, was also delighted to hear that Bedok resident Amanda Mak and her teammates, Teh Xiu Hong and Teo Shun Xie, won gold in the women's 10m air pistol team event!
Well done and welcome home, Team Singapore!
[L-R] Teh Xiu Hong, Amanda Mak, and Teo Shun Xie finished first in the women's 10m air pistol team event to clinch the second gold medal for Singapore in shooting!
This is Amanda’s first and only appearance at the SEA Games, as she will be quitting the sport to focus on studies and work. Wishing her all the best! Hope to bump into you in Bedok one day!
Kudos to our sprint queen and East Coast Resident Shanti Pereira, for winning her second medal at the Games in the women's 100m final after setting a new national record with a time of 23.52s in the women's 200m final!
Our very own Teong Tzen Wei smashed the SEA Games 50m freestyle record with a time of 21.93! Our swimmers brought home a total of 21 golds this Games. Well done!
The late Dr Albert Winsemius was Singapore’s chief economic adviser in the early years of nationhood. With his help, our founding fathers overcame the odds to turn Singapore from third world to first in one generation.
Glad to welcome his son, Pieter Winsemius, and nine of his family members to Singapore today for the launch of “Albert Winsemius and Singapore”. With us were also ESM Goh Chok Tong (MParader) and Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
Congratulations to Prof Euston Quah and his team for this definitive account of Dr Winsemius’ lifework.
The legacy of Dr Winsemius is one that Singaporeans are grateful for. This book is yet another way of honouring Dr Winsemius and capturing his remarkable contributions during this critical period of Singapore’s history, for generations to come.
The cover of the book is a painting of the swampy delta of the Jurong River by Dr K Franz entitled “Here, it is going to happen”. This painting used to sit above Dr Winsemius’ fireplace in his home in the Netherlands from 1961 to his passing in 1996. Today, it hangs in Singapore Economic Development Board - EDB ‘s office as a reminder of how far Singapore has come.
The team who made the book a reality! Congratulations!
[L-R] Dr Pieter Winsemius; Dr Phua Kok Khoo, Chairman, World Scientific Publishing; Professor Euston Quah; Mr Luke Nursultan Iuldashov (co-author); Mr Zach Lee (co-author).
The young Albert Winsemius picked up the family trade and worked as a cheese maker in his youth, before later becoming a cheese salesman. So today, his son, Dr Pieter Winsemius presented Prof Quah with a wheel of cheese!
