Amy’s Laksa stall is a popular breakfast/lunch spot for many patrons. She is 70 (!) this year, and shared that her secret to looking youthful is to sleep early and wake up early!

Joined DBS volunteers together with Tan Kiat How and Amy Khor at The Marketplace at 58 to pack meals for our Changi General Hospital frontliners today.
DBS has been facilitating community group buys at participating hawker stalls, and also creating an online presence for hawker centres as part of its Adopt-a-Hawker Centre programme. This meaningful initiative is part of a broader Alliance for Action to support our hawkers and help them digitalise.
Many hawkers have been hard hit by the pandemic. But I am glad that many of them are adapting. Some who have digitalised have seen earnings improve by up to 30%. So I hope more will come on board.
A big thank you to DBS and SG Digital Office for supporting our hawkers. And I encourage more of you to play your part to keep this vital part of our heritage thriving.

Glad to hear that some hawkers have seen their monthly earnings increase by up to 30% through the group buys and enhanced online presence so I took the opportunity to speak to other stalls in the centre as well. I encouraged more to come on board and expand their digital options to benefit from reaching a wider customer base.

This digital $100 stuff. If my noodles cost $2-50, it means I have to use $2 digital AND cash.
And the hawker now got double work?

The Hup Soon Fish Head Bee Hoon hawker stall is one of the hawkers participating in the group buy through the newly set up Facebook page for the hawker centre (https://www.facebook.com/themarketplaceat58).

DBS has also launched an #UltimateHawker virtual mobile game where proceeds from the game will go towards funding group buys from the hawker centres.

A closer look at SUTD Singapore University of Technology & Design iTrust test beds that mimic critical infrastructure such as water and power plants.

Was glad to hear that, when schools request to visit these testbeds to learn more about cyber security, SUTD is happy to open its doors, like it did for a group of Spectra Secondary School students. And guess what the Spectra students liked the best? The attacking, of course!

Professor Aditya Mathur showcasing a demonstration of “PlantProtect”.

On SUTD Singapore University of Technology & Design’s campus, you can find three industrial-grade testbeds — water treatment, water distribution and an electric power grid - that students and researchers attack and defend, all to find better ways to defend critical infrastructure.

A successful cyber attack could “trick” pumps and other equipment to overheat, water tanks to overflow or even cut off the supply of water to entire buildings. You can see why it would be critical to defend critical infrastructure like water and power systems from cyber attacks.

The distribution of Antigen Rapid Test kits are part of a nationwide exercise to encourage residents to test regularly. Many residents recognise Mr Shahruddin and will often have friendly exchanges with him when he makes his deliveries.
