Does anyone know if a foreign passport holder Singaporean who declare himself Muslim, need to serve in Singapore NS?
Also, how about someone serving in the ADF (Australian Defence Force) still need to serve Singapore NS? Can he report to CMPB in the Australian Army Reserve uniform.
How come only Singapore schools students can defer but not overseas? How come Singapore still have archaic laws. Other countries govt feed a Singaporean to 18yo but the Singaporean still need to serve NS?
According to

Registration for NS
Under the Enlistment Act, all male Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents are liable for National Service (NS). Upon reaching the age of 16 ½ years, all male Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents
(including those whose Singapore citizenship is a second citizenship), have to register for NS.
......
Male citizens studying in a Singapore government school or institution may apply for deferment from full-time NS pending completion of studies. This may be done online at the MINDEF website. The age limit is 18 years for enlistment of full-time NS.
The Singapore government takes evasion of NS very seriously. Anyone attempting to do so will be prosecuted and may be imprisoned for up to three years, fined up to SGD 5,000 or both.
The Singapore laws for NS is a joke, written in the dinosaur years to treat aggression in males so that obey PAP and not create an Arab Spring in Singapore. Someone I know called it "Singapore Males Obedient School" - you come out a loyal dog to serve the PAP masters.
