Driver killed after tree fell on car during downpour

Oh gosh! For the last time, I'm still a student. I'm not a teacher.

Who the hell spread weird rumours that I'm a teacher?

Oh btw, Krafty didn't give me his phone number. :p How do I call him? My goodness.

Ok, ok. we all know you breed like hell and live in holes below ground. If you are in NZ or Oz or USA, I will shoot your bloody arse, literally.

Seems like Mabroky and Yakult best buddies now.. They are in some shit recent..

most of those bigshots and hotshots in nparks are FTs from mudlands. they follow the rules accordingly. if nothing happens, they get their fat checks if anything happens, those at the lower rungs get all the shits slamming.

the bougainvillea-ed road leading up to changi airport was such an amazement when blooming in an array of colors. but the number of those FTs big/hotshots officers trying to credit it to themselves is a bigger amazement!

probable reasonings:

1. too much downfall
2. soil supporting the roots too wet, gets soft and "moving" loosely. hence tree gave way and fell.
3. exceptionally strong winds
4. nobody's fault. blame it on mother nature
5. blame it on typhoon conson
6. it only happens once in every 50 yrs
6. don't pray to tikongma, i still piss on u - gohmengseng:D

Yakult : It only happens once in 50 yrs la. Its MBT's fault.

MaBoT: Give that man a thai ger. Sorry I'm drunk but HDB will still go up

No porn Lui wouldn't try to drive out during the raining season liao :D

Merlion struck by lightning
Flyer struck by lightning....

Look just stick to your advise, advice bull crap. Like i even care about this type of shit on a forum such as this.

Your attitude is appalling. If you consider the forum to be shit, please don't log on anymore. Your absence will be much appreciated.

Lee Xiao Loong: Do not expect ZERO mortality rate from falling trees in downpour

Yakult: It is unrealistic to expect no drivers to die from falling trees when there are so many trees and so much rain. A few cases is acceptable...

Ass Loon's Latest Catch Phrase: "It cannot be helped..."

yakult can breathe a bit...

Nparks under MND.....mabroky in charge

Mah Pook Gai is busy with the roaring PHole sale and setting up his own China Gambling Fund. What is the big deal of a few digits being flattened by falling trees?!

Tree crushes man in car

<!-- by line --> By Kimberly Spykerman and Ted Chen

<!--background story, collapse if none--> NParks Statement

At around 2pm on Tuesday, a mature rain tree (of age 35-40 years old) along Yio Chu Kang Road was uprooted, hit a car and killed the driver.

Our preliminary inspection showed that the tree was uprooted due to severe weather conditions. The tree was last pruned in January 2010, as part of routine pruning cycle to reduce the weight of the crown.

According to the Meteorological report, an intense microburst had occurred at the area around that time. The wind speed at that time was as high as 65 km/h, accompanied by heavy rain. A microburst is a localised, powerful descending air draft column that produces damaging winds at high speed.

Microbursts may last for only a few seconds, but are known to knock down fully grown trees.

NParks is deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident. Our priority now is to extend assistance to the family of the deceased.

<!-- story content : start --> A MAN was crushed to death when a rain tree uprooted and crushed the car he was driving, pinning him to his seat during Tuesday's afternoon's heavy downpour. The driver, 32-year-old Chua Loong Wai, who was alone when the accident happened, sustained injuries to his spine. The accident occurred at the junction of Thomson Hills Drive and Yio Chu Kang Road at around 2pm.

Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force took 20 minutes to extricate his body from the tangled wreck of twisted metal with hydraulic spreader cutters. The National Parks Board (NParks) said that they understood that there were strong winds and heavy rain at the time the tree crashed to the ground.

A spokesman added that NParks is assisting the family of the dead man and will be conducting an inspection of the trees in the vicinity. When The Straits Times arrived at the scene, the black Honda Freed was smashed and a team of about 12 workers had begun taking the felled tree apart - a task which took them about two hours to complete.
