'I was impressed.'
MY FIRST Meet-the-People Session at the People's Action Party (PAP) branch office in Toa Payoh Central on Tuesday was an eye-opener.
The MP looking after the area is Education Minister Ng Eng Hen. After a 45-minute wait, it was my turn and I was warmly greeted by Dr Ng and offered a seat.
He took only a few moments to come up with a solution after he read about the purpose of my visit on the computer screen. He also promised to follow up on my case.
I was impressed by Dr Ng's efficiency. He showed no signs of fatigue after a long day's work at the Ministry of Education and having seen so many residents before me.
He insisted on meeting every resident who visited him that night and ensured everyone's message was accurately conveyed to him.
To me, his handling of the evening's Meet-the-People Session is worth emulating at all levels of leadership, for effectiveness and efficiency.
