SINGAPORE: Checking in to a location via the TraceTogether token or mobile app will soon be a faster process with a new system called SafeEntry Gateway.

It allows visitors to check in by placing their TraceTogether tokens or mobile phone within 25cm of the gateway device or a box. The box will beep and show a green light if the check-in is successful. For those using mobile phones, the TraceTogether app must be open for the check-in to proceed.

Announcing this on Tuesday (Mar 16), the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG) said the SafeEntry Gateways will be deployed from Apr 19 at selected places with large numbers of visitors, such as malls, cinemas, hospitals and gated tourist attractions.

Other venues include large standalone retail outlets, supermarkets, public libraries, selected museums and galleries, MICE event venues, places of worship and funeral parlours with wake halls. Public and private hospitals, national specialty centres, community hospitals and polyclinics will also need to deploy the gateways.

These venues will be required to deploy the SafeEntry Gateway in addition to the current SafeEntry check-in methods, said SNDGG.

WHY So many methods for SafeEntry ??? Next must use Singpass ???

Looks like this is their cunning plan to force the usage of Tracetogether. Phone app users will need to have the Tracetogether app running in the background. Token users can't remove the battery.

Don't expect these draconian surveillance measures to go away soon even if the pandemic goes away.

Typical totalitarian shithole, always putting a positive spin on their schemes and scams:

Checking in to a location via the TraceTogether token or mobile app will soon be a faster process with a new system called SafeEntry Gateway.

People will revolt and tell the govt to go up their own arse. We will not abide by such rules.

Singaporeans, u want such level of control?it is not for ur safety, it is for their control over u. Still ignorance and u will suffer from it.

The Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG) announced on Tuesday (Mar 16) that from Apr 19, these venues will be required to deploy the new SafeEntry Gateway in addition to the current SafeEntry check-in methods.

Besides malls, cinemas and gated tourist attractions, other venues that have to use the new SafeEntry Gateway include large standalone retail outlets, supermarkets, public libraries, selected museums and galleries, MICE event venues, places of worship and funeral parlours with wake halls.

Public and private hospitals, national specialty centres, community hospitals and polyclinics will also need to deploy the gateways.

They will also be set up at selected popular wet markets, including Geylang Serai Market, Chong Pang Market, the markets at Blocks 20 and 21 Marsiling Lane, and Block 505 Jurong West Street 52.

Venue operators can either install a physical device, the SafeEntry Gateway box, or use the updated SafeEntry (Business) app at entrance points, said the SNDGG.

Once the gateway is set up, visitors can place their TraceTogether tokens or phone with the TraceTogether app open within 25cm of the box or the SafeEntry (Business) app for contactless check in, similar to using an EZ link card.

The TraceTogether (TT) app or token will be made compulsory for checking into many places from 1 June, with other modes of SafeEntry discontinued.

These places include offices, eateries, shopping malls, schools, pre-schools, healthcare facilities, gyms and places of worship. The venues are those with a higher visitor throughput or have people who are in close proximity for relatively longer periods.

In a joint press release on Thursday (22 April), the Smart Nation and Digital Government Office (SNDGO) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) said the app or token will also be compulsory for contact tracing at weddings and funerals.

They have already spent a fortune making the tokens, Gateway pads, and developing their apps. They're not going to stop using them anytime soon... not even if the WHO officially declares the pandemic to be over.

I was told the stupid App drains the phone battery very quickly. Is it true?

All this fuss over a virus that is mild in almost everyone that catches it.

Singapore is already a police state pretending to be a democracy.
