Maybe also design HDB flats so that noise etc does not travel, have soundproof windows and all that, its not expensive and its a necessity as people are living closer to each other than before...,,,

HDB is suppose to be "cheap" housing for the masses.
Even though it is not cheap, don't expect the PAP to improve the quality of materials & the design because it will hit their profit margin.

Sound proofing is an expensive luxury that you will only find in more expensive condos. Even in these condos you have noise from people doing renovations. The best is to get you own bungalow like what LKY & LHL.

There are 2 sides to this. There are people needing a good night sleep or studying for an important exams that will be bothered by some of these night activities. There are also need for families to have their weddings and funerals. Gov't suppose to have all these "Master Plans", looks like they dropped the ball on this one.

Hdb can do sound proofing n better quality housing etc if it choose to. They can achieve economies of scale but considering the rent seeking behaviour mode they r in. They will build hdb flats with air n still sell it to u for as much as they can squeeze.

In the past hdb flats were designed differently. N tat time life not tat stress n there was community spirit. Now u community spirit with the pinoys n ah tiongs n ah nehs r? Now ppl.work 12hrs a day go home is to sleep. W all the noise how to sleep? N pls lah void deck is soo yesterday. I dont believe u get value at holding it at void deck. Cannot hold at normal restaurant? If on a budget. Than opt for buffet. It is cheaper than banquet. Banquet all bluff $ wan.

Some old timer told me that chink weddings were once held at void decks too. But they upgraded to wayang banquets in hotels n forgot their roots. Live n let live no longer holds true.... Sigh....
