A technical glitch during morning peak hour caused thousands of commuters to be late for work or school by up to 50 minutes yesterday, but rail operator SMRT Corp maintains the incident did not amount to a service disruption, as there were no stoppages.

"There was no service disruption, although trains ran at a slower speed," the company said in a press statement, attributing the incident to a "track circuit failure" along the southbound track between Yew Tee and Kranji stations on the North-South Line.

50 minutes slower.

Desmond Kuek needs to realize that Saw lost her job not just because of her incompetence but her gaffes. Think before he opens his mouth.

The students will grow up taking the breakdowns as part and parcel of public transport....
This paper general should have gone into advertising or public relations....his creative spin is 2nd to none.
Train withdrawals, running at slower speeds etc jargon coined by him.

Yes MRT trains not disrupted but

sinkies lives are!

Finding excuses, one after another?

"The MRT system is still reliable compared with other systems. I don't see anything significant in the number of disruptions and delays."

Not flooding, just ponding.
Not rioting, just unruly behaviour.
Not disruption, just slow service.

Not running scare, just maximum restraint.
Not trains breakdown, just train withdrawals.
Not Temasek losing money, just paper losses investing long term.

The next time the forum has database problems, I will no longer announce that the forum was down. I'll just say it was running a bit slower and the pages took 30 minutes to load instead of 3 seconds.
