The Defence Force says it is investigating allegations that members of the Army have posted derogatory comments on social media about women in the north Queensland city of Townsville.
On one Facebook page, a Townsville man who appears to be in the Army has referred to women in the city as "sluts".
He has also used other derogatory descriptions of women in the city.
The posts were made two years ago.
The page was taken down this afternoon.
Thousands of soldiers from the Army's 3rd Brigade and 11th Brigade are based at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville.
The Department of Defence has declined to comment to the ABC.
Last week, the Chief of the Army, Lieutenant General David Morrison, announced that three soldiers had been stood down due to explicit emails that degraded women.
Around 100 people were implicated in the email chain.
