This is quite tragic case and shows that LTA should do much more to educate all road users in Singapore (especially public bus drivers and also school kids and cyclists ) ASAP and more policeman on bicycle or motorcycle (especially plain clothes) is necessary to arrest errant Road users and also educate cyclist (and road users) etc whenever they come across dangerous driving behaviour.
Think the SBS media statement conveniently left out fact that driver didn't properly check his blind spot or else his turn was too tight etc. According to the witness video (Razor) , the SBS bus had already made the right turn, this suggests that SBS is omitting the fact that their bus driver is very reckless and probably totally didn't check his right side clearence during the turn and was also totally unaware he had collided and dragged the cyclist for 30m (probably from impact within the junction, since video shows bus having ALREADY completed the right turn, stopping a distance (seems>30m)after the T-junction) ).
Cyclist also must be careful and keep to the left most turn right lane (which isn't easy cos other junctions have go straight and turn right option).
Probably, the problem is that cyclist tried to keep left a bit during the right turn and bus driver wasn't aware of road situation and just quickly turned blindly and steeply rightwards without checking blind spot, his side clearence not his rear view cameras (for cyclist approaching from behind) during the turn .
Probably, cyclist doesn't have any driving license, thus doesn't understand how big blind spot is for the bus and the wide turning angle for long vehicles.
Think for road safety, MOE and LTA need to provide a car and possibly also a bus at road safety park for all the kids to sit inside the drivers seat and understand the concept of blind spot. (and also dangers of crossing road in front of stationary bus).
LTA and traffic police must really pull up their socks where road safety is concerned.
If my accident re-construction is correct, this accident was totally avoidable if both parties had a better road sense or more safe road use experience.
