CSJ not happy with PAP............................. again.

Prof Paul Tambyah was just at Orange & Teal for lunch. He showed me the ST report about how Singapore refused to sign the declaration by more than 100 countries to halt deforestation by 2030 in a desperate move to slow down the climate crisis that is happening all round the world.
The declaration was made at the COP26 climate conference that is taking place in Glasgow presently.
Compare this refusal to what Minister for Nat Dev Desmond Lee said a few weeks ago: "Singaporeans must adopt sustainability as a core value if it is to realise the country's commitment to tackling the climate crisis.
"The efforts require the people to make sustainability a part of what it means to be Singaporean, to match the resolve and deep shift in Singapore's culture needed to make it work."
But when it comes to putting action to words, this "resolve" and "what it means to be Singaporean" melts like ice on a barbeque.
But Singaporeans have come to expect this from the PAP: saying one thing and making all the right noises to placate the people but doing diametrically opposite when it comes to the crunch.
The climate crisis is dire; it is no joke and it is upon us.
Yet we continue this insane policy of bringing in more and more people onto this island and clearing precious forests to make way for housing and shopping centres.
This cannot go on unchecked.
The SDP is selling 'Guardian Of The Forest' t-shirts to help our Holland-Bt Timah GRC team continue its campaign to save Dover and Clementi forests. They are available at Orange & Teal ($35).
If we are going to get serious about holding the PAP accountable to its promises, the SDP needs to be in Parliament - and in meaningful numbers. And the only way to can do this this is with your active support.
By the way, Orange & Teal is open during Deepavali.
