SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 24,080 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore on Tuesday (1 March), a week after hitting a record-high of 26,032 new infections.

It is the second-highest number of such infections ever recorded in a day in the city state, up from 13,554 on Monday, bringing the country's total case count to 748,504.

Of them, 23,891, or 99 per cent, are local – 21,025 were detected via antigen rapid tests (ART), while 2,866 were detected via polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. A total of 2,749 local infections are aged 11 and below, up from 1,715 the previous day.

The remaining 189 are imported, of whom 105 were detected via ART and 84 via PCR tests.

A total of 11 COVID-19 related deaths were also reported on Tuesday, bringing the death toll here to 1,030.

The weekly infection growth rate – or ratio of community cases for the past week over the week before – was 1.02, down from 1.09 the day before. A figure of over one means that the number of new weekly cases is on the rise.

A total of 17,205 cases were discharged, while 1,726 remain warded, up from 1,649 on Monday.

Of those still hospitalised, 242 require oxygen supplementation, while 53 are in the intensive care unit (ICU).

As of Monday, 91 per cent of the total population have completed the full vaccination regimen, while 68 per cent have received their booster shots.

there are so much more omicron cases therefore there will be some deaths. in the end, omicron is no less deadly than the other variants. the govt is using numbers to misinform the people but the death numbers don't lie.

OYK even have the gall to say 'ANYTHING C0ULD HAPPEN'-meaning they are not taking responsibility for this big mess.
No matter what happens, most locals just keep quiet and PAP always think they can get away with it.
The only solution is to give PAP a resounding defeat in the next election otherwise we are in for untold misery

SINGAPORE - The total number of daily Covid-19 cases and those in hospital continued to fall on Sunday (March 6), with 13,158 total cases and 1,437 people hospitalised.

This is down from 16,274 infections and 1,559 hospitalisations a day earlier.

The Covid-19 weekly infection growth rate remained below one at 0.95, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in its nightly update.

It was the fifth day in a row that the weekly infection rate had dipped under one since Jan 3. The rate was also 0.95 on Saturday.

The rate refers to the ratio of community cases for the past week over the week before. A rate of more than one indicates that the number of new weekly Covid-19 cases is increasing.

On Friday, MOH noted how the fall in the weekly infection growth rate suggests that the Republic's current epidemic wave might have peaked.

MOH said it will continue to monitor the situation closely with the hope that safe management measures can soon be streamlined and eased.
