Same same as Delta in what is PAP's standard covid "management" - close the stable door after the horse has bolted.
After that LHL will give speech praising own self for a good job done -now you know why POFMA is used so often.

Many jiuhu lasses are very sad they cannot balik kampung for CNY for yet another year. :frown:

They will need to be comforted. Doesn't matter if they are PMETs, students, hairstylists or F&B workers.

As usual, they allowed Omicron to enter Singapore already and then sealed it while waiting for it to slowly spread into the community (in a matter of time as we were now told). This type of Chee Bye leadership is hard to keep everyone safe.

NOTE: The MOH has stopped issuing daily media releases on infection statistics. In line with the MOH's announcement, Gov.sg has also stopped its daily WhatsApp updates on such statistics.
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday (24 December) confirmed 265 new COVID-19 infections in Singapore – bringing the country's total case count to 277,307 – as well as 82 more Omicron cases.
This brings the total number of those infected with Omicron here to at least 153.
Of the 82 more cases of the new variant, 17 are locally transmitted while 65 are imported. Altogether, there are at least 23 local and 130 imported Omicron cases, including the 6 local and 65 imported cases confirmed by the MOH early Tuesday morning.
The ministry added that from Friday, COVID-19 cases who tested positive for the S-gene target failure (SGTF) will be categorised as Omicron cases, without additional whole-genome sequencing (WGS).
"Based on our local experience, if a person tests positive for SGTF, it is very likely that it is an Omicron variant. This is aligned to the practice in other countries, and does not change our existing public health actions which are already triggered on the basis of detecting SGTF," the ministry noted.
Due to the change, the number of Omicron cases will see a one-time substantial increase from the last update, as samples pending WGS have been included in Friday's count, the MOH said.

No COVID deaths for 1st time in 96 days

Friday marks the 22nd day in a row with less than 1,000 cases reported in the city-state.
It is also the first day in 96 days with no fatalities from COVID reported here. A total of 97 people have succumbed to it this month.
Of the new cases, 186 are local – 177 are in the community and nine are residents of migrant worker dormitories. The remaining 79 are imported.
This comes a day after the highest number of imported cases, 89, was reported. The figure overtook the previous high of 76 such cases on Wednesday.
The ratio of community cases for the past week over the week before – or the weekly infection growth rate – is 0.52, down from Thursday's 0.57. It is the 42nd day in a row where the figure is lower than 1.
Apart from the 820 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.

45 require oxygen supplementation; 29 in ICU

A total of 388 cases were discharged on Friday, while 413 are hospitalised. Over the last 28 days, of the 16,622 infected individuals, 98.7 per cent had no or mild symptoms.
There are currently 45 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation.
A total of 29 cases are in the intensive care unit (ICU) – 10 are unstable and under close monitoring to prevent further deterioration, while 19 are critically ill and intubated.
The current overall ICU utilisation rate is 51.7 per cent, up from 50 per cent on Thursday.
As of Thursday, the total number of individuals who have completed their full regimen or received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines is 96 per cent of the eligible population.
Among the total population, 87 per cent have done so, while 88 per cent have received at least one dose, and 36 per cent have received their booster shots.

448 Omicron COVID-19 cases detected in Singapore to date; new cluster linked to bar on River Valley Road
www.channelnewsasia.com

SINGAPORE: A total of 448 confirmed Omicron COVID-19 cases have been detected in Singapore to date, comprising 369 imported cases and 79 local infections, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Saturday (Dec 25).
The Health Ministry also announced that a cluster of 10 Omicron COVID-19 cases linked to a bar on River Valley Road has been detected.
The primary case in the cluster, Case 280860, is a traveller who arrived in Singapore on Dec 14 from the United States via a vaccinated travel lane (VTL) flight. His on-arrival test was negative for COVID-19, and he tested positive for COVID-19 on Dec 18, MOH said.
The traveller met a colleague, identified as case 281477, on Dec 15 and this colleague subsequently visited The Vinyl Bar at 266 River Valley Road on Dec 17.
The Health Ministry’s epidemiological investigations found that Case 281477 "likely transmitted the virus" to a member of staff at the bar, identified as Case 281876, as well as three patrons who were at the bar that evening, known as Cases 282091, 282143 and 282178.
“Case 282091 then went on to infect four household members,” MOH said.
All 10 cases linked to the cluster are fully vaccinated and have mild or no symptoms, the Health Ministry said, adding that it is ringfencing the cases through contact tracing.
"Staff and visitors of The Vinyl Bar who are identified to be close contacts of the cases will be placed on quarantine," said MOH.
"As a precautionary measure, other staff and visitors to the bar at the same time as Case 281477 on Dec 17 will be contacted by MOH for a one-time targeted polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test."
All visitors to the bar are advised to monitor their health closely and minimise social interactions as far as possible for 14 days from their date of visit.
"They are encouraged to see a doctor immediately if they feel unwell," said MOH.
Singapore is picking up more Omicron cases due to “the rapid spread of the variant across many countries/regions”, said the Health Ministry.
“Given its high transmissibility, it is a matter of time before the Omicron variant spreads in our community,” it added.
“It is important for everyone to continue to play their part and remain vigilant to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and to come forward to receive your vaccination or booster dose when offered.”
Singapore has frozen all new ticket sales for VTL flights and buses until Jan 20, 2022, amid the "rapid spread" of Omicron infections in many countries.
VTL quotas and ticket sales for travel will also be temporarily reduced after Jan 20, 2022, the Health Ministry announced earlier this week.
Singapore has VTLs with more than 20 countries and regions, including Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Just a minor flu. Majority of the flu cases will be classified as Omicron. Prepare for lockdown during LNY for us. They used it to lockdown Xmas for the West. More media created fear coming. They want you to stay at home and get brainwashed by the propaganda box lying in your living room.
