Re: K Shamu warns people about the haze: Don't you curse the PAP!
government can easily enact new legislation to jail directors of companies that cause harm in singapore. CPIB and CNB already have extra-jurisdiction reach. NEA can be given similar powers.
but this assumes the culprits are the big listed companies.
with the numerous hotspots in play, it could instead be the work of smaller independent operators who find it more profitable to strike a match than to bring in a team of bulldozers.
corrupt indonesian forestry officials and local governors are to blame. with elections approaching in indo, will SBY act against his own people?
To me, the whole issue is caused by high demand of cheap palm oil by consumer goods companies. They must be penalised for they are the one who earns the most and reap the most benefit frim this environment disaster. Those who have operations in Singapore must be called up and fucked! Have some peanalty imposed against them rather than paying lip service. Agri companies like Wilmar, IOI, Cargil must also be penalised as they are making money thru this environment disaster as well.
