Chinese netizens outraged over public dog skinning
</td></tr></tbody></table>
A Chinese netizen going by the moniker Sally claimed to have witnessed a group of men killing and skinning a dog in front of a shop in Pudong, Shanghai. She said in Chinese on goumin wang, a dog-friendly forum: "I saw it with my own eyes... Hearing this dog's heartrending cries was truly too brutal!" She claimed to have taken the photos posted with her cell phone. Her posting, which has since been re-posted by others on at least one popular China forum, has drawn strong reaction from fellow netizens. Most appeared outraged and several called for police to take action. One forumer, going by the name Xiaolin, said: "Barbarians, we haven't gotten to the point of starvation where it is necessary to kill on the streets to eat meat, have we?"

Double standards. Either one eats meat or doesn't (vegetarian). What's the difference between slaughtering, skinning, cooking and eating a pig and a dog? (Incidentally both examples haram, non-halal, no punt or connotation intended).

Oh a dog understands and obeys, yes, very well. Keep it as your pet then. As if sheep and cattle don't understand and obey shephards. They're just too big too be personal cutie pets. Keep your pets. Nobody eats pets. Understand that?

this is like skinning the average singaporean alive; financially, politically and spiritually. till all have no brain, no money and no jobs and had to resort to MRT suicides.

And it doesn't matter if he jumps . There is no fight in suicide .

Take 100 with you . Like pushing a dozen over the MRT station when the train comes .

Every living animal, whether a cow, sheep or dog deserves a chance at life and should not be treated like a commodity to satisfy human want and greed. If at a dire situation arises whereby they just have to be exploited, as in the case of providing food, it should then be carried out in a humane and respectable fashion.

What the pictures are depicting is the social rot that humanity is facing. Especially in a country like china where a significant amount of the population is still in the "medieval ages" with no ethics or civic thinking. The apathetic attitude of the people nearby, the crude and ruffian like mentality of the men who carried the gruesome act...it all shows that the Chinese still have a great stride to progress before they can call themselves a modern society.

Imagine for a second....if the victim, instead of being a dog were to be a HUMAN- a common man on the street with no money or power or elitist attributes, would the outcome have been any different? Would the people nearby step in to prevent cold murder, would the perpetrators treat the victim in a more humane manner, or would law and order prevent this act from happening????The most likely answer is no.

Dogs have a very special place in the hearts of all PRC simply because they are of the same kind! That is to come of all PRC when they have no power, money or status in their own community.
The way they behave, eats, drink, talk. All similar to a dog that has made it up to pecking order.

Your words make sense but it's still disturbing...

What's disturbing is that it's done in public. Skinning any animal live in public is obscene and unstomachable for many people. If one visits a slaughterhouse for pigs and watch how it's done, one may not feel like eating pork anymore.

The Koreans have a clear-minded distinction between dogs at pet and dogs as food. Many keep pet dogs and eat dog meat at the same time. Dog meat restaurants are legal in South Korea, where there're dogs specially and hygienically reared as livestock. There're also pet shops where dogs are specially bred as pets.
