China's Age of Invention

It's not about living in the past. I was told that the Chinese has a civilisation that had lasted 5,000 years and it is the only civilisation that is still in existence and intact and the Chinese are not finished yet.

Predominantly, the Chinese are 98% Hans and 2% minority races. The Hans is a race by itself and not a dialect. It is a distinct race in the human species.

The Indians, while it is a big country, has many dialects and there are no distinct race. In fact, there is no such a thing as an Indian civilisation, for there is none. Present day India is a colonial mistake, as India was, is and never will be a single entity which the British insists to be called India.

The Chinese as a race and civilisation will surpass this millenium and exist for another 1,000 years, if the human race does not kill itself by then.

There are many ancient customs which are still in existence in present day China and as China modernises, it is a challenge to keep the culture instact. Can you believe it when the Chinese written language is older than the Roman's or Greek's written language and it is still as new as when it was first used centuries ago?

While the Chinese written language is rather cumbersome, the fact that it is still in existence shows that the Chinese as a race and culture is not easily discarded into oblivion. Deal with it for the Chinese are here to stay, whether the rest like it or not.

Good quote now as u can see all the green eyed monsters have emerged from the woodwork. How lesser ppl from lesser nations take indians for example try and act like they are better than the chinese. Many many reasons vary and they are the most riddiculous.

Like how some indians think of their closer resembalance to whites they are also whites and hence superior??????

Despite all the greatness of the chinese, ppl are going to take cheap shots, give them riddiculous rules to play by yet not allow these same rules to judge themselves. Play double standards etc.

Another example. One forummer here commented how if there is a an accident here how it is always a malay that will help first?? Implying that no chinese will help first????

ALso how every bad habit of the chinese is magnified while their own are swept under the carpet. Like how the slaughter of dogs as food is so inhumane yet doing the same to cows or chickens is okay?????

As usual u will see the chinese who hate their own race come out of the woodwork too to condemn their own race and culture.

Seriously one thing i have to admire about the white man is how they manage to create this social hierachy. How even a whore that goes out with a white man is even superior to a local for example. How asians with so-called white features like bigger eyes, sharper nose etc etc are more attractive, How even smelling an ang moh's fart makes u superior since his whiteness rubs off unto you.

I have no doubts that they are here to stay. After all, there are more than a billion of them out there.

However, the problem with the Chinese is that they have been overrun so often by nations much smaller than they are. This has caused them to develop a huge inferiority complex.

Decisions made and actions taken in response to an inferiority complex are never logical or sound. The recent olympics is a good example. The Chinese treated the Beijing Olympics as something of a phallic symbol rather than a sporting event. It had to be bigger, better, brighter and the most expensive ever. At the same time, they displayed subservience to the West in many ways.

Take the issue of the West's criticism of Beijing's pollution as an example. The Chinese should simply have told the world... "This is China. Our air is dirty because we are spending heaps on infrastructure. Take it or leave it!"

Instead, they literally shut down economic activity at great expense to their own citizens in order to kowtow to the demands of the West.

It's a pity they didn't show a bit of backbone.

China might have been overun but they were not eliminated. Instead they thrived. Do u know mongolians today still pray to mr ghengis khan??? Other than mr khan what else do they have to boast about? Besides it took 7 european nations to weaken china. EVen the big ol USA needs an entire coalition of nations to take on iraq. What does this say????

As for your example of subservience to the west, its simply dumb. Its a damn if you do damn if you don't situation. Let's say China did not follow the west. What would ppl say??? WOW china is so filthy, yucks disgusting air!!!! Wow news medias in USA and the west would have a field day complaining. What would you have said???? You would have gone 180 the other way around and instead of praising the chinese for having backbone you would have bashed them to the ground about how filthy and disgusting they are for such air pollution. I know how u think like. Which ever way the chinese act its always never good enough for you and u bash them. Have air pollution, they are filthy, no air pollution they kowtow to the west.

Anyway if china is so subservience like you say to the west, why isn't tibet free??? Tibet is more than ever a part of china.

Anyway this is China's best oylmpics and it also showed the biasness and double standards of the great superpower the US. Look at their track and field results. Totally destroyed by the Jamaicans. Bias coverage of the swimming events whilst totally ignoring track and field which is actually even more prestigious than swimming. Accusing bolt of taking drugs but meanwhile ignoring phelps. Diving across the finish line in a race to steal the bronze? Accusing China's atheltes of being underaged??? Of course you would not say anything. These were not committed by the chinese but by Americans and anything done by whites is always right.

Anyway congrats to China for its best oylmpics ever.

It's incredibly outright illogical for any American or anyone who'd been to Los Angeles to complain about air pollution in Beijing.

The problem with the Chinese is that they haven't invented anything of importance since.

It isn't good to live in the past. In order to be successful, it is necessary to live in the present and look towards the future.

The best Olympics in recent times were the Sydney Olympics.

China sucks. It's a filthy, corrupt dictorship. It can't innovate and it certainly hasn't invented anything useful for centuries.

The Beijing Olympics will forever be known as the fake Olympics. Fake singing, fake fireworks footage, fake passports, fake birth certificates and fake ethnic groups and this is just the tip of the iceberg uncovered with some astute investigative work by the media and individuals dedicated to exposing the lies of the Chinese.

For every fake that was discovered, there are probably ten fakes that went undetected. Take the 110m hurdler guy who won a gold in Athens for example. He faked injury in order to escape being exposed as a drug cheat. Had he raced and won a medal, he would have been hauled to drug control immediately after the race.

China should hang its head in Shame.

Lengend has it that some Chinese medical chemists accidentally invented gunpowder whilst trying to concoct some kind of elixir. Fortunately, the pills exploded before consumption, and gunpowder was born. To this day, the Chinese refer to gunpowder as "fire medicine" (火药).

I am fascinated by the inventions of ancient china. Their philosophers are as good as the Greek masters (anyone read Tao Te Ching?); their martial arts are the best in the world (they discovered Qi before anyone else); and their literature classics are immensely deep. But that's ANCIENT China.

Modern China is a disgrace to humanity, and PRCs are one of my most hated people. Maybe you can blame communism for that.

Other notable Chinese inventions:

- Magnetic south-pointing needle, i.e. compass (circa 2500BC)
The early invention of compass enabled Chinese troop movements over huge tracts of terrains covering vast distances. Significantly and singularly in the ancient world, the Chinese civiliszation started off encompassing a continental-sized land area.

- Paper (circa AD100)
Before the invention of paper, Chinese used to write on bamboo sticks and scrolls of bamboo sticks were strewn up to form books (册). Early Middle Easterners and Europeans used to write on stone tablets that were more durable, fire-proof, but quite a hassle to store or transport. The Chinese invention of paper spread westward and paper became the the standard medium for writing thereafter.

Before the Chinese invention of paper, there was its precursor in the Egyptian papyrus. However, papyrus was still leafy in nature and unreliably non-durable. It had never caught up anywhere outside Egypt.

Omg what crap are you spouting????Fake fireworks???? LOL they psed some parts cos of the skyline. Anyway it was not fake. Besides read the news reports. Read how ppl wonder if london can top this yr's olympics. Fake ethnic groups??????? Comeon quit talking out of your ass. Also whether the gymanists are underaged is just accusations made by the US which played below the belt this time round. They were angry that they lost and just made up allegiations. What about US runner that dives across the finish line????? So cos it is not china that does it but the US it is okay????

If liu xiang took drugs in 2004 why wasn;t he found out??????U mean in 2004 the technology wasn't advanced enough?????

Anyhow the ppl guilty of taking drugs are mostly US atheletes like Marion jones.

Everyone had such good things to say about this Oylmpics. How many records were broken??? How good was the opening and closing ceremony??? Did u know NBC delayed the opening ceremony by 12 hrs???? Obviuously they had to edit out the footage of some parts and the commentary by the 2 hosts and make china look like a 3rd world country. Yet i bet to you that is fine.

The so-called live Sydney Philharmonic Orchestra performance in Olympics 2000 was actually pre-recorded and the performance was just a sync, not live. It wasn't even recorded fully by the Sydney Orchestra, as Melborne musicians were involved.

The worst offenders of doping came from the USSR, East Germany and other eastern European countries during the cold war era. Many of their past Olympic medallists are now aging disgracefully and uglily with the side effects, and are tucked away somehwere like asylums to keep the manifest physical evidence of doping from the public view.

Ever wonder why East Germany, with a population about 1/20th the size of the US, could win more gold medals than the US in the 70s? But a united Germany today is still winning gold medals in the quantum of old West Germany only?

It's useless. No matter what a western country does. No matter how many times US cheats or acts unsportsmanlike. It is okay. Just a small small mistake by China it is magnified 10000x. Even if no mistake is made there's always a reason to blame china.

There's also contention about whether the movable type printing press was invented in the 11th century Song dynasty China or in the 17th century Germany by Guttenburg. The Song dynasty version, though technically movable types, comprised a huge catalogous collection of typefaces, as was required by the Chinese characters writing system. The Guttenburg movable type printing press, based on the mobile and nimbile Latin alphabet, was invented independently of the Chinese press. However, I think it's fair to say that the Chinese came up with the idea of movable types over block printing first.

Sydney orchestra faked 2000 Olympics performance
Last Updated: Friday, August 29, 2008 | 8:58 AM ET Comments90Recommend33The Associated Press
China isn't the only country to fake a musical performance during an Olympic opening ceremony. Turns out Australia knows a thing about miming music, too.

Eight years after Sydney hosted the 2000 Summer Olympics, officials with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra acknowledged their stirring performance at the opening ceremony was entirely prerecorded. And perhaps even more cringe-inducing for Sydney residents: some of the music was recorded by the symphony of rival city Melbourne.

The revelation followed an international uproar over China's decision to pass off the voice of a seven-year-old singer as that of another girl at this year's Olympic opening ceremony.

The Beijing ceremony's chief music director said the real singer, Yang Peiyi, wasn't good looking enough. So the pigtailed and perky Lin Miaoke mouthed the words to Ode to the Motherland instead at the ceremony.

Trevor Green, managing director of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO), confirmed on Friday that the 2000 opening ceremony performance had been prerecorded by both the Sydney and Melbourne orchestras, saying that steps must be taken to ensure mistakes aren't made live during high-profile events.

"If you've got an event the size of the Olympics, and you've got billions and billions of people watching it, you definitely have a backing track and mime to it, because anything could go wrong," Green said. "It's just a 'safety first' thing. ... You cannot take the risk."

The Sydney orchestra's decision to call on Melbourne for help was not surprising, given the workload, Green added.

"It was just too much for one orchestra," he said. "We share artists all the time and conductors all the time."

'It was all prerecorded'
Libby Christie, managing director of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, did not return a call seeking comment Friday, but earlier this week acknowledged the performance had been mimed.

"It was all prerecorded and the MSO did record a minority of the music that was performed," Christie told the Sydney Morning Herald for a story published Tuesday. "It's correct that we were basically miming to a pre-recording."

Christie said tight deadlines and a "mountainous workload" required the use of two orchestras for the backing tape.

Yvonne Zammit, a Sydney symphony spokeswoman, said Friday that Christie stood by her earlier comments.

Christie said the Sydney orchestra rarely used recordings in place of live performances, but did so during the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Sydney.

Green said his orchestra had also used a backing track at the opening ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

WHEN A WESTERN COUNTRY OR A COUNTRY THAT HAS CITIZENS THAT RESEMBLE WHITES, WHEN THEY DO SOMETHING WRONG IT IS EITHER EXCUSED OR SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET. WHEN A COUNTRY LIKE CHINA DOES IT. TO BE A RESPONSIBLE PERSON WE SHOULD POINT OUT THIS TYPE OF DOUBLE STANDARDS. THERE ARE MANY PPL AWARE OF THESE TYPE OF OF DOUBLE STANDARDS HERE AND OVER THERE.YET THERE IS QUITE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF PPL WHO CHOOSE TO BE BLIND OR ARE TRULY BLIND TO IT.

EFFORTS NEED TO BE TAKEN TO SHOW THAT WESTERN NATIONALS ARE NOT INFALLIABLE AND THAT THEIR ACTIONS HAVE AN AGENDA TO PROMOTE THEIR CULTURE, PPL AND COUNTRY OVER OTHERS.

IN THE END I AGREE WE ALL NEED TO PLAY FAIR BUT NEED TO LOOK OUT FOR THOSE THAT PRETEND TO PLAY FAIR BUT IN REALITY PLAY DIRTY.

It is perfectly acceptable to pre record a symphony orchestra. It is done all the time in places where the acoustics are not suitable. The Australians are the most honest people in the world and it is highly unlikely that they would wish to deceive anybody just to look good. It is not the Australian way.

However, to take the voice of an ugly girl and credit it to a pretty girl is something only the disgusting Chinese would do.

The Chinese have always been cheats. Piracy is rife. Crime is everywhere. Corruption is deeply rooted. It is a rotten country with an army that is only good at shooting its own citizens or am I going to be told that OZ has its own version of the Tienanmen massacre???

Long live Australia! Down with the corrupt, disgusting Chinese Nation!
