Namaste Dagoba...

Namaste Dagoba was completed on May 9, 2009 after construction for 3 years. The Namaste Dagoba is used to enshrine the only relic of Sakyamuni's finger bone in the world. The full height of the dagoba is 148m.

The numbers "148" were chosen because the "1", symbolizes that the Buddha does not differ from all other beings. The Buddha is only the awakened being while other beings are yet to be enlightened. The "4" and "8" denote the 8th day of the 4th lunar month, the birthday of Buddha. The architectural design of Namaste Dagoba represents the Buddhist thought of unification, concord harmony and peace. The one and only relic of Sakyamuni's finger bone in the world was enshrined in the underground palace in the Namaste Dagoba. The finger bone is brought up to the first floor at the Namaste Dagoba on the 1st day and 15th day of each lunar month plus Saturdays and Sundays for tourists and devotees to pay homage.

Lugu Lake & Mosuo tribe

Lakeside-Sunrise-Lugu-Lake.jpg

lugu-lake-8.jpg

ONE NIGHT STAND is the custom here.

The Mosuo is a matriarchal society. They are known for their walking marriages. This is a relationship where a man visits the woman at night and leave in the morning. While it sounds to the west like a one night stand, the walking marriage is a complicated relationship that is often misunderstood.

Many walking marriages last for years and lifetime and often involve the same person. Should children be produced by these marriages, the father has no formal relationship with the children.

The mother's uncle is the one responsible for helping raise the children. The father visits as a guest and has no decision making in his children's future. There is no relationship existing with the father's parents and his children.

Two generations of dedication to carve the Giant Buddha from the cliff of a mountain...Patience and Perseverance.....

The Leshan Giant Buddha is a statue of Maitreya (a Bodhisattva usually represented as a very stout monk with a broad smile on his face and with his naked breast and paunch exposed to view) in sitting posture. The Buddha is located to the east of Leshan City, Sichuan Province, at the confluence of three rivers, namely, Min River, Qingyi River, and Dadu River. The statue makes itself the most renowned scenic spot in Leshan City. In December, 1996, the location of the Buddha was included by UNESCO on the list of the World Heritage sites. Begun in the year 713 in the Tang Dynasty, and finished in the year 803, the statue took people more than 90 years to carve. During these years, thousands of workers had expended their efforts and wisdom on the project. As the biggest carved stone Buddha in the world, Leshan Giant Buddha is featured in poetry, song and story.

It was a monk called Hai Tong who initiated the project. His concern was for the safety of the long-suffering people who earned their living around the confluence of the three rivers. Tempestuous waters ensured that boat accidents were numerous and the simple people put the disaster down to the presence of a water spirit. So Hai Tong decided to carve a statue beside the river thinking that the Buddha would bring the water spirit under control. Besides, the fallen stones dropped during the carving would reduce the water force there. After 20 years' begging alms, he finally accumulated enough money for the plan. When some local government officials had designs on tempting this amount of money, Hai Tong said that they could get his eyeball but not the money raised for the Buddha. After Hai Tong dug out his eyeball, these officials ran away scared. The project was half done when Hai Tong passed away, and two of his disciples continued the work. After a total of 90 years' hard work, the project was finally completed.

The Leshan Giant Buddha continues to attract tourists and tourist dollars for the small town. The water is now calm, peaceful and serene. You can take a bumboat and enjoy this gigantic sight!!! Simply mind-boggling!!!

The 26 generator equipped on the dam can produce 84.9 billion Kw of electricity per year and the shipping capacity has been improved from ten million tons to fifty million tons, which brings a cost reduction of 35% of the original.

Not only does the completion of Three Gorges Dam in 2009 form a huge reservoir with a length of 600 km, but also it creates a breath-taking artificial landscape in the world. The project has also improved the navigable condition of the lakes among the mountain ranges and made it more convenient to access the natural and historic scenic spots scattering nearby.

Another great place to visit in China - The Emen Shan and The Golden Peak...

Emei Shan literally means "Delicate Eyebrow Mountain" — it derives its name from two peaks which face each other and look like the delicate eyebrows of a Chinese classic beauty. Emei Shan is sacred to the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra.

Mt. Emei is historically significant as being the site of the first Buddhist temple in China, which was built at the base of the mountain in the 1st century AD. From this first temple, Buddhism spread widely throughout the East. Other temples followed the first on Mt. Emei, and the mountain soon became a sacred Buddhist site.

A nice cool mountain resort in China. Walking up the steps is rather tiresome for some. Sedan chairs are available. When you reach the top, you are greatly relieved when you see the Golden Peak - the giant Buddha and the Golden Temple. You have achieved something.Peace,Harmony and Bless. There are so many things in life to experience and to witness. How did the people build such a gigantic statue on top of a mountain? The bus journey up the mountain is risky...but the test is taking the steps to the top of the mountain and along the way, you can see many interesting things including The Golden Monkey....

Beidahu Skiing Resort was the venue of China's 8th and 9th Winter Olympics. Beidahu's advantageous location surrounded by mountains on three sides guarantee a comfortable weather conditions with very little to no wind in winter. Skiers and snow boarders love Beidahu's varied terrain and enjoy its unpretentious alpine trails amidst peaks in the primitive forest. Another reward for your ski trip to Beidahu is the picturesque rime scenery.

Rimed Trees of Jilin - one of the wonders in this beautiful city in North East of China...

The ice crystals that condense on tree branches when frost meets water vapor is variously known as rime, snow willow or ice flowers. The phenomenon, common in Jilin's winters, is due to super-cold weather and surrounding warmer waters. Jilin rime is considered one of the "four natural wonders of China" together with the mountains and water of Guilin, the Stone Forest of Yunnan and the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.

Shaanxi History Museum... A MUST visit when you are in Xian.If you are student of Chinese History, it's a treasure!!!

Shaanxi Province is the birthplace of the ancient Chinese civilization. Xian City was the capital city in thirteen dynasties which in total lasted over 1100 years. Consequently, the ancient history of Shaanxi is to some degree the ancient history of China. The Shaanxi History Museum considers it an obligation to be a showcase of ancient civilizations. It is situated in the southern suburb of Xian City, northwest of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.Since it was opened to the public in 1991, its architectural buildings, internal apparatus, and exhibits have made it famous as a first-class museum in China.

The museum occupies an area of 65,000 square meters (16 acres). It is a grand complex of buildings imitating the architecture style of the Tang Dynasty (618-907). A two-storied primary pavilion stands in the center, and secondary pavilions of varying heights are distributed orderly around it. With black, white and grey as the predominant colors, the buildings have a solemn and rustic charm. The museum is furnished with central air-conditioning and multi-functional lighting system to ensure the protection of the culture relics. It is a comprehensive museum with more than 370,000 exhibits of different times and kinds.

The Glass Walkway Of the Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie - the ultimate thrill
Not for the weak hearted. Looking through the glass and down at least 4700 feet below!!! At the edge of the massive mountain side!!!This is an adrenaline rushing trip!!!!!!!!!!

Located in China’s Hunan Province, Zhangjiajie is an enchanting natural paradise with geographical features such as mountains, cliffs, forests and streams. The area contains sights so breathtaking that visitors cannot help but be impressed. In fact, Zhangjiajie has often been compared to the Grand Canyon.

OVER the past decade a lot landscape architecture for sightseeing purposes has sprung up in different parts of the world. For instance, Austria completed the Top of Tyrol project and the Dachstein Sky Walk in 2008 and 2010 respectively. In 2002, Norway launched an 18-year architectural program to promote its natural beauty, and it finished the Aurland Lookout in 2006. In the Americas, the U.S. opened the Great Canyon Skywalk in 2007, and Brazil and Argentina co-built the Hanging Platform of Iguazu Waterfalls in 2010.

On November 9, 2011, China unveiled the glass walkway of the Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, Hunan. Standing at roughly 4,700 feet above sea level, it is one of the world’s highest observation platforms.

Roughly 200 feet in length, it braces the cliff face of the Tianmen Mountain, enabling an unobstructed view of the nearby scenery as well as an unusual panorama straight down the cliff.

To walk on it takes some courage and a spirit for adventure. As required by park regulations, tourists to the site have to wear anti-slip shoe covers, which also serve to minimize dust on the acrylic glass planks.

The walkway is a valuable addition to the attractions of the Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park, which is only 7 miles from the downtown area of Zhangjiajie, a prefecture-level city most famous for the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in the north.

Leading up to the Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park is Tongtian Avenue. It winds its way around the mountainous terrain like a snake. The engineering on some parts of the road is stunning.
