A journalist for a leading Chinese news magazine is in custody after returning to his home village to help his family with a land dispute.

Chen Bao-Cheng and several other villagers are charged with holding the driver of an excavator against his will.

Locals say families were dragged from their beds, as their homes were demolished without their consent.

Al Jazeera's Harry Fawcett reports from Pingdu, Shandong province.
