Charred remains of slashed man found
IPOH: The charred remains of an 84-year-old man with a slash wound on his neck was found in a house in Kampung Ampang Baru Empat here.
Neighbours had alerted the Fire and Rescue Department of a fire in the room of Ho Choong Fahat (pic) about 1am yesterday.
After putting out the fire, they found Ho’s remains on his bed. Ho stayed alone.
Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said police found a slash wound on Ho’s neck.
“However, we cannot ascertain whether the victim was dead prior to being set on fire,” he said.
”We are waiting for the post-mortem results and a report from the department before confirming the cause of death,” he added.
DCP Mohd Shukri said that there were no signs of a break-in .
”Nothing has been reported stolen, ” he said.
Ho’s son, who declined to be named, said his father was supposed to have left with him for a holiday in Genting Highlands yesterday.
