These sorts of arguments are universal. In NZ, cyclists feel that they should pay LESS taxes overall because they're fitter and healthier and therefore consume far less of the health budget compared to fat, lazy drivers who cost the country a fortune because of their diabetes, hypertension, clogged arteries and a host of other ailments.

The fat lumps of lards retort that cyclists cost the earth to put back together after they've been mowed down by car.

That's a myth especially in congested cities. I take less time to cycle to town than to drive there and that's when I obey the road rules. If I took short cuts and went through stop signs, I'd be even quicker.

I ride at about 30kph and get overtaken by cars doing 60kph. I'll catch them at the next traffic light or roundabout and I'll normally get through before they do. The same car will overtake me again and the process repeats itself.

To be honest, I have no problem with the concept of cyclists paying road taxes. It would buy them the right to use the roads and remove the ridiculous argument that they shouldn't be there because they aren't paying taxes.

A Caucasian winning a lawsuit against a Chinese must mean the law is racially siding Caucasians? I hate fistfights and lawsuits, but if I'm forced to be mired in one, I fight, win or lose on my own merits regardless of creeds.

Some people in this forum may tend to go with this racial (or religious) thingy, not me though. I look at things case by case (time permitting.) It matters not to me whether it is a white, oriental, or afro. What matters to me is how the thing started, and whether justice was just. That's all. It benefits me nada to take sides.

However, while it is ongoing, I normally wish the underdog the better of the outcome.
