SINGAPORE: While some in Singapore are celebrating Christmas with their families, others went car-shopping.

Hundreds of people visited a car exhibition at the Singapore Expo on Thursday, but organisers say only about 10 per cent were really interested to purchase a car.

Lower COE prices, interest rates, cheaper petrol and reasonably-priced cars make it a good time to own a car now, but it is not so easy to get a loan approved.

So exhibitors are not too optimistic about strong sales.

The four-day exhibition has 11 models on display.

2. Boss and co-workers use u as a taxi driver cum deliveryman just because you have a car :oIo:
3. Some harm kar chan see you have a new paint job and decide to use his key as a brush and you car as his canvas or see your car just been washed decided to use it as a tower to wipe his hands.:oIo:
4. Have me relatives in Matland laugh at me for being dumb ( buying the same thing but paying nearly double the price COE + Car ) and letting the govt screw me twice ( pay already road tax and yet still need to pay ERP ):o:mad:

Like a house, cars are big ticket items. Frankly, how many in Singapore can afford to pay in cash for a car, S$50,000, S$70,000 or even S$100,000.

I am not surprised you might even have some folks using credit cards, 2 at the very least to make the downpayment first, followed with a 80% or 90% loan stretch over the next 7 to 10 years.

If the banks tighten their credit, everybody is in deep trouble. From the company, the sales guys, the servicing guys, the technician, etc. This is what is happening in the US where a lot of the delears close shop because people refused to buy or the banks refused to lend.

Let's see if from another angle. May be people are pissed with public transport.

If a peasant is upset with his mule he will naturally want to look at horses. But the bugger cannot afford the carrot or the stick!

10% genuine buyers, 90% punters hoping for free car give away

Buy Chery QQ or Geely good value for money. Don't have to work your ass off to pay the mortgage

(Yes, the term mortgage can be used for cars too as in chattel mortgage, although 99% of the time it is used for homes .... just in case some joker wanna come here TCSS)
