PALO ALTO, June 11 — Each day, ETX Studio puts the spotlight on a number that stands out for making headlines in one way or another. Today, we’re highlighting Tesla’s recent feat in becoming the world’s most valuable automobile company thanks to its shares surpassing US$1,000 (RM4,275).
Yesterday, The Telegraph reported that, thanks to company CEO Elon Musk recently sending out an email to his staff stating that their brand’s Semi truck is ready for “volume production,” the company’s stock prices exceeded IS$1,000, making Tesla the most valuable automobile company in the world.

Before the electric car company took the lead, Toyota was the manufacturer to beat; yesterday, that feat was accomplished. Tesla is currently valued at US$190 billion despite recent factory closures due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
With this good news comes some bad news, though; just a month after reopening its California facilities, a handful of workers have tested positive for coronavirus, according to the Washington Post. This comes after repeated clashes between state officials and Musk, who went as far to defy orders by opening his Fremont facility when Alameda County demanded that the company cease operations within the region.

Nevertheless, these cases aren’t slowing down the company. Production is slated to continue, and Tesla is working to keep its top spot. — AFP-Relaxnews

if you make fancy looking thermostats you can sell the company for US$3 billion. Who needs to make a profit? All you need is to have someone willing to pay that sum for it.

Tesla is one of those companies like Netflix where when you look at the number you wonder?..........

Tesla Model 3 Outsold BMW, Mercedes, Audi, & Lexus Competitors In 2nd Quarter In USA — By A Landslide!
The Tesla Model 3 continues to dominate in its vehicle class in the United States. Frankly, sales charts for the second quarter of 2019 make it look like the Model 3 doesn’t belong in this class at all, and there’s a strong case to be made that it doesn’t.

The Model 3 has a similar base price point to the other vehicles on the charts featured below, but it has much lower cost of ownership, much better tech (infotainment tech and autonomous driving tech), record-breaking safety scores, and unmatched performance. There’s really not a solid reason to buy another car in this class. Aside from some buyers not liking the design of the Model 3 for some reason and choosing a competing car, I presume that sales of other models in this price range are simply due to inertia — societal inertia, marketing inertia, and internal illogical inertia. Actually, even a distaste for the design may simply be due to psychological inertia.
Nonetheless, the story today is not that there should be more Model 3 demand. It’s that the Model 3 was sold more than 3 times more than the runner-up BMW 3 Series, or a bit less than 3 times more than the BMW 3/4 Series. No class in this category comes close to matching the Model 3.

The sales chart above is so warped that I thought it’s more sensible to combine small and midsize models of other luxury automakers and pit them against the Model 3. This also makes some sense if you consider that Tesla doesn’t have many models for sale. Choice is so limited that someone who may want a Model 3 in a coupe design or something more like a “Model 2” simply has to settle for a Model 3 right now.
So, I created another chart that combines the semi-similar models of competing brands, cars in the small and midsize luxury car categories. Have a look:

The Model 3 wins anyway!
Again, in my mind, it’s not surprising that the Model 3 is winning — it’s surprising that anyone is buying the other cars at all. Nonetheless, it is a big achievement to yet again top the sales chart like this, and it must come as a total shocker to analysts who don’t understand the Tesla Model 3’s various competitive advantages over the competition — dramatic competitive advantages.
Indeed, much of the media hasn’t touched this topic and is never going to report that the Model 3 absolutely dominated the rankings in and near its vehicle class. That’s why you have CleanTechnica.

Note: I discovered that the interactive charts I normally use for these reports can appear messed up on some smartphones, so I used static images instead of the interactive charts in the article above. However, if you want to have some real fun, check out the charts below and click from one time period to the next to see how Tesla Model 3 sales (deliveries) have evolved over time.

Driving a Tesla for long trips requires careful planning with frequent breaks to facilitate charging time. Good luck travelling off the beaten track and less popular spots.

Fake. There is no such car called Tesla. Fake news.

Yes we think so model 3 was a hit now the truck (where they failed the demo with broken glass) is racking up huge numbers. How bad was production hit?

In America big Ford F150s and RAM 1500s were the leader now Tesla taking market share.

Last I heard Elon sued California to reopen Tesla factory because of the lockdown there and they backed down. See how different things are there? That is how you deal with the government. If it was in China, they say no and send in the agents and next day across the street a showroom would be selling electric Texla cars.

Actually Netflix I can understand. But there are a whole bunch of them I gave up on. This guy Elon is king of raising capital for stuff that is half-baked. I'd really like to know he can look in the mirror.

Furthermore, an electric car is actually a technological throwback. There were electric cars and hybrids running around in the late-1800s and early 1900s. There is nothing in Tesla that makes it unique. The battery which is actually the most important tech item is made by Panasonic and LG Chem. And the car has so many corners cut to shave costs. And there are far better made electric cars out there. I guess it's just like facebook. Everybody has to have an account, but I don't even know what anybody does on it other than social signalling.

An electric motor to drive a car is actually far simpler than ICE. That's why Tiongland is focusing it's efforts there now.

I think torque drops off the further you are away from standstill. The motor has a maximum rpm. Torque is higher the further it is away from max rpm and closer to a stop. But your summary is correct. All torque instantaneously available unlike gas engines which usually develop max torque higher up the rpm range.

The sales for now are genuine. But recently there was a price drop to boost waning demand. A Tesla is a social magnet. Young girls and the "cool people" are really impressed by it because of gimmicks and design and the tech halo. Things like autopilot "full self driving" until it runs into a truck.

But until he can manufacture one that doesn't fall apart and is actually safe, I'm not going anywhere near one.
