What larger scheme in the transport system does this connection play?

Motorists, especially residents in the Bedok North Estate, will be able to enjoy a direct and faster connection between Bedok North Avenue 3 and the PIE.
The new interchange will also serve as an alternative to the two existing interchanges with the PIE at Bedok North and Simei.
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="/static/ads/scripts/adsimu.js"></SCRIPT>The Land Transport Authority (LTA) also constructed two new pedestrian overhead bridges across Bedok North Avenue 3 as part of the improvement works.
It also provided ramps to the existing pedestrian overhead bridge across the PIE and upgraded five bus shelters along Bedok North Avenue 3 and Bedok Reservoir Road.
Bedok North Avenue 3 has also been widened from two lanes to three lanes in both directions.
