Can somebody explain? Woman cheated but awarded alimony on divorce

With regards to alimony and child mantainance, I know of someone who didn't pay a single cent although he is supposed to, for many years.

I don't understand about this point. On what grounds does the woman justify that? If the wealth is created after the divorce is long gone and if the woman has no parts in it?

Alimony a.k.a spousal maintenance is supposed to be paid until your ex-wife remarries.

So, theoretically, if she cohabits with a new boyfriend and all her expenses are taken care of, you, the ex-husband, still has to pay her the vaginamony every month. Lan lan.

The law has been revised recently to give more bite. It all depends if the ex-wife wants to enforce. She can get a court order to get the banks in Spore to transfer the money to her without ex-hubby authorisation. Similar to IRAS. If you owe taxes, IRAS can issue all local banks an enforcement order to retrieve the monies.

For the alimony, it is part of women's rights under the Women's Charter. It has nothing to do with the fault or cause of the divorce. The deck is totally skewed to the women, hence's Women's Charter. As long as the man has to pay $1, it's kept alive till she remarries. If there is a significant change in circumstances, she can reapply to court for increase in alimony since her right is kept by her token $1. Hence the token $1 you hear about in court cases. Its to protect and preserve the right of the person.

Only 3 ways to divorce in Sgp, regardless of who files (or fault): 1. Adultery 2. Separation 3. Unreasonable behaviour

Court awards $1 alimony to woman who cheated on husband

SINGAPORE - Sin Chew Daily and China Press reported that a Singapore court ordered a $1 alimony to be paid to a woman who cheated on her husband.

The 44-year-old woman was said to have had an affair and walked out on her husband and two daughters two years ago.

The husband, identified only as Thoo, 54, filed for a divorce in 2009 after finding out about the affair.

This woman got a bad deal. The total pregnancy mfor the two daughters took 18 months, plus another 4 months to recover. That is nearly two years just to give birth to the Two daughters.

The man, on the other hand, continues to bonk irrespective of the condition of the wife, suffers no down time and not affected by any consequences of his action.
