Cabby files false police report to avoid scolding by wife

His wife gave him a coin box for his taxi but Ho Wui Khew, 60, misplaced it. This was the second time he had lost items and, to avoid a scolding from his spouse, he cooked up a story about a robbery.
He even filed a police report and on Thursday Ho pleaded guilty to providing false information to the authorities and was fined $4,000.
Court documents state that he was then a taxi driver with Prime taxi service. At about 10pm on June 21, 2011, he called the police hotline to report a robbery.
He claimed that a couple, who flagged down his taxi, had pointed a penknife at him along Portsdown Road and robbed him of $317 in cash and also taken a SIM card and a Bluetooth earpiece.
They had fled into the bushes after getting him to stop his vehicle.
